I actually believe it's a 75/25 shot the Raiders move to Las Vegas. Oakland doesn't seem very serious about keeping the team in the city.

It's not 75/25.

Either the state holds a special session or they don't.

You might have thought that St. Louis was out of this conversation, but there's a minor scandal brewing.   It appears that HOK continued to bill the stadium authority a quarter-million dollars for work done in the months after the Rams left.

And they claim that those costs are unrelated to potentially transferring the plan to an MLS stadium.  FWIW.

The Cubs should celebrate their WS title there.

The committee only had one "No" vote and it came from Clark County Commissioner Christine Giunchigliani. She has been against any public money from the start.

During today's meeting, she said:

Quote

I support a stadium, but not with public financing. There's so much in the details that have not been vetted. No public-financed stadium in the United States has benefited the public.

They've probably just jumped Arizona on my list of dumbest states in the country. And it hits home double for me being from Nevada. I wouldn't even be surprised if some type of statewide income tax is added so Vegas can have their new toy that will only financially benefit Addelson. I mean, at this point, :censored:ty Vegas high schools won't even be able to afford metal detectors!

If any one state government were going to be successfully shaken down for close to one billion dollars by a football team? It would have been Nevada.

Today was still just a recommendation from a regional taskforce/committee which reports to the governor.  It still needs legislative approval and there is no timetable for a special session to be called.

The Clark County meeting next Tuesday is to essentially read the room for the local legislators in case the tax falls to them if the state says , "No".

Jesus, the state of Nevada really is that stupid, huh?

Well, that one committee is.  And they're not accountable to the taxpayers.  Any deal would still have to be approved by the governor and the legislature.

Although this quote raises the stupid level to delirious new heights:

Quote

"We get an NFL team, and that is a significant step forward for Las Vegas and the community,'' committee chairman Steve Hill said about the project's potential. "Those teams bring the community together. We're going to have people wearing Raiders jerseys and high-fiving each other. ... That's not something you can put a number on.''

They'll be lucky if a third of the ticketholders are even Raiders fans; at least half are going to be vagabond tourist fans from LA, San Diego, and Phoenix or any of the cities that can fly to Vegas on the cheap.

And that does not matter to Mark Davis.  As long as there are people (locals, non-locals, ticket brokers) who pony up to pay the PSL and the season ticket plans, he won't care as he sees Jerry Jones and the money he generates with AT&T Stadium which has zero home field advantage and basically runs WNW-ESE.
