JTrainGBR83 Posted March 28, 2015 Share Posted March 28, 2015 I made a Suns helmet using davidson's amazing template a while back and recently started messing around with a couple other ideas. I won't be doing every team, just a few that I think are interesting or like the look of. For those interested in a much fuller treatment in the same vein, check out JPDesign's great thread from last year. Here is the Suns helmet: I'd like to do a throwback version with the more purple-y purple and the 90's version of the shooting sun, but I couldn't find a good high-res version of it. Next is a Jazz throwback helmet inspired by the late 90's jerseys. I personally really like that jersey even with its gradient, crazy colors, and '90s tackiness. I did experiment with adding a logo ("Jazz" and "UJ" wordmarks) but it was a bit cluttered and just didn't quite work for me, so I decided to keep it simple. The wings presented the opportunity to do an Eagles-like concept and I was happy with the result. I thought about adding the antennae as well but decided to stick with just the wings. To stay within the concept, the antennae would have to be very short, since they are significantly shorter than the wings--too short to really look much like stripes, and too plain to make it obvious what they represented. I went back and forth on whether to add the jersey number in addition to the iconic Blazers striping. I decided to leave it off and keep it very simple along the lines of the Oregon State helmets.
