DG_ThenNowForever
Not loading on my end yet. Based on the screenshot, it looks okay. Hopefully it doesn't completely break the site, the way SI's redesign did. I haven't been back since SI relaunched last summer. 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags
Sport
I like it. My only concern with their new site: has it fixed their video player? Even when I'm on powerful connections their video player still requires lots of pausing and waiting for it to load. I've always had a bitch of a time watching content on their site. DG_ThenNowForever
I finally got it.Please tell me why I can't use nearly a quarter of the screen? Top nav elements that stay at the top of the page are the very worst of modern web design. It's like folks are deadset on rehashing the worst excesses of late 90s web design when it was tables everywhere. Not a fan.EDIT: Comments on the redesign remind me of another pet peeve of modern web design: Huge text means scrolling forever. Manageable on a mobile device, but super super annoying on a desk/laptop. 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags

Manageable on a mobile device, but super super annoying on a desk/laptop.Well it probably stems from the fact that more and more web traffic comes from mobile devices and tablets. If I didn't have a desk job, I would hardly ever use a keyboard and mouse.
DG_ThenNowForever
It does, and ESPN says as much -- some 60% of their traffic is mobile. And I loaded the site on my tablet and, yes, it looks great. However, gimping the experience for a third of your users seems like bad business, especially when mobile traffic presumably includes app as well as browser-based users. I've yet to see the web site developed for mobile first that doesn't somehow ruin the desktop experience. ESPN's redesign isn't nearly as bad as the SI travesty, but I think a lot of functionality was lost. 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags
Jimmy!
Anyone else seeing the huge, encircling Chevy ad taking up WAY too much real estate? JasonFromMiami
Think it absolutely :censored:ing sucks ! And am i the only one that have trouble reading the light grey letters on a white background ? use black letters like every sane site and person. Geoff
Welp, the guru has eloquently weighed in. Thanks, Jason. If you're having that hard enough time reading a sufficiently dark grey on a white background, I'd suggest an eye exam.I like the upgrade. I went into work today and one my coworkers showed me the new site and complained about it. His sole complaint: it's different. Why change what worked? If that's the only complaint, it's a non-issue because change happens. Hell we're even shifting our own site soon and it wouldn't look like the now-former ESPN design. That design was looking dated and with ESPN's new ZOMG futuristic set/graphics reboot, you knew a new website was bound to happen soon. UnclearInitial
So it looks like last years ESPNFC update carried over to the whole website. frankly, I'm not a fan of these kind of scrolling websites, it often takes forever to find what you're looking for. I expect that during NFL season the first 10 or so news will only be NFL, kind of like how ESPNFC does to the EPL. The blog-like article also lead to frequent crashing on WindowsPhone and take forever to load on IOS. They should have just made the website like the old mobile version, which I always found very easy to navigate
Corvus
I hate the new web design trend that seems to just ignore desktop readability in favour of mobile.Have to echo the sentiments up thread that recent design trends on the web remind me far too much of the web twenty years ago. I feel like I'm being forced to read a seniors large print book sometimes. Fortunately for me, I rarely visit espn anyways.
mattb6
Why didn't they update the fantas sports? That is all I go on for, and the fantasy section has been dated for several years.
mgdmhl
Why didn't they update the fantas sports? That is all I go on for, and the fantasy section has been dated for several years. They're updating each section day-by-day it looks like.
