drakexedge's NFL Re-Design Thread (Steelers Added)

What's up guys? I started an NFL re-design last summer, and made it through about 3 divisions before I became sidetracked with work, and eventually lost interest. With the recent reveal of the Cleveland Browns 2015 uniforms, I was comparing what they released to my concept from nearly a year prior, and it got me thinking..."I kind of want to start fresh, and give the NFL a make over from my perspective," as many of you have done, or are planning to do.

So that's exactly what this is.

I will kind of be winging it as far as the order of teams goes, and taking requests along the way.

Of course, any constructive criticism is fair game.

Thanks for checking out this series, and I hope you enjoy it!

First up, Carolina Panthers.

- I really like the all black look for home because let's face it...panthers are black.

- To keep things consistent, every look is monochromatic by default, with the option to mix and match pants.

- Got rid of that awful silver helmet to bring in more black. Lid gets a blue facemask.

- Slash mark striping pattern on the helmet, sleeves, and pants.

Let me know how you guys feel about it!

This is from a panthers fan, the claw stripe works on the sleeve but everywhere else is a HUGE overkill, like you're trying hard to make it scream Carolina Panthers!

As well, the blue pants seem weird, I would change them to black.

My 2 Cents: Just relax. You don't need to make it so perfect it becomes a crazy alternate they are only going to wear once in there entire existence, just make what feels natural to you, but if that's basically crazy alternates they are only going to wear once in there entire existence then go right ahead ^_^ !

You know this really isn't bad, I'm a big fan of the black helmet over silver. I'm a guy that likes to stick with the classics, but since the Panthers are still a pretty young team, I think this could create a solid look for their identity into the years to come. My only suggestion is to brighten up that blue, more to the turquoise-like color on their current uniforms. Great start

the randomness/organic shapes of the claw marks doesn't fit with the Panthers branding. You could imply claw marks but simplify them down....similar to the current helmet stripes. the shapes and curves of the logo should be enough to build from.

Agreed. The claw marks need a lot of work, actually. In addition to simplifying them, I would remove the stroke and use 3 instead of 4 claw marks, to go along with the wordmark. I'd also like to see them removed from the helmet, then maybe make the logo a little bigger. I'd also play with using no white stroke on the logo. I've always like the way that looks in concepts. It also goes along with your focus on black and a panther-like motif.

I felt like if the claw marks look good anywhere, it was in the pants stripe, personally. I originally had black pants for the alternates, but I thought it might be cool with blue. Looking back, I don't really care for the blue, either. Lol

I'll try to brighten up the blue, but just a note I got all of the team colors from this website, and unless they're actually incorrect, I'm probably going to stick with them throughout.

Firstly, I'll try to simplify them down a bit, and see how that looks. Secondly, I went with four considering there are four claws on a paw. Thirdly, in the wordmark you posted, I believe the three "slashes" that you are referring to are actually the whiskers from the primary logo.

Nonetheless, I'm taking everyone's input in, and I'm going to post the results shortly.

Final thought: Once the Panthers are finished, what team would you guys like to see next?

Here's the updated set:

- Removed striping from helmet.

- Simplified striping to flow with the branding of the franchise.

- Lightened the shade of blue.

- Added number to the back of the helmet. (Forgot in original post)

- Changed alternate pants to black, as well as made the sleeves blue w/ black stripes to keep things consistent.

C&C appreciated. Also, let me know who you guys want to see next!

I really like the simplified striping of the update. One issue that you need to resolve is the full number on the shoulders (right now you only have a single digit on each sleeve). Great work on the this concept. I hope to see more of your work.

It's done that way for perspective. If you look at a jersey (or a player wearing one) from the front, you can't see both of the numbers. Sorry if this causes any confusion!

How do you guys feel about Philly being next?

It looks nearly perfect. I'd like to see the helmet with no white stroke on the logo, though.

I'll mock that up for you, and you guys can decide which looks better before I finalize it.

Agreed w/ everyone above! This revision looks much better, cleaner and more realistic in being hypothetically used!

Love this Panthers concept.

Couldn't agree more with everyone else. Much cleaner with the new claw marks. Great job on this

Also wanted to say I love the presentation of the concept. The subtle touch of the stadium in the background is amazing

Thanks guys! The kind words are much appreciated. I really wanted to put a good bit of focus into the presentation of the concepts as well, so I'm glad that didn't go un-noticed! Ha
