mcrosby Posted April 25, 2015 Share Posted April 25, 2015 The Northwoods League currently uses this travesty of a logo: It seems like it would be obvious to throw that pine tree into the negative space of the N, but alas we have what we have. I've done just that, but I'm stuck with where to take it. The league isn't established enough to not include baseball imagery, and fitting the wordmark around the logo is proving tough. I'm not sold on the NW, although I like the construction. It comes off as NorthWest instead of Northwoods. Also, I think it may look better if you slant the tree to the right, as that's the way the rest of the letters are going. Definitely try to work in some baseball imagery if you can! Good start though, it's a big improvement.The angles of the tree sit perfectly under the N as is, and slanting the tree would ruin how perfectly parallel those lines are. If you have the Bottom left of the W cut upward a little rather than getting blended with the N, it might help it read NW better.This is really clever the way the tree cuts in the N but I can't help but think that the addition of a few more trees in back or in the side would give a better sense of "woods". Here's a look at another idea, and something that would also fit well with the NLB version. I plan on updating some of the logos, we'll see if I get to that. Duluth, Mankato, and GB are high on that list. PacificCoastRL Posted April 29, 2015 Share Posted April 29, 2015 I think many of the teams try to stick with a Northwoods feel when it comes to their nicknames, logos, etc. A dog going to the moon would not be in line with that thinking.
