Concussion, telling the story of Dr. Bennet Omalu's discovery of the link between football and CTE, debuted its first trailer:

It's getting the "WATCH the trailer that has Roger Goodell pissing his pants!" treatment from the content machines, but I can't say I'm hopeful that this movie will radically fix this sport or bring accountability to the villains in this story.

Behold the delightful performance art of Raiders fans:

"I get my stabbing knife ready"

"my wife calls the cops"

These are my people now.

To be totally fair, I've seen several times where Broncos fans have been unusually confrontational towards Raiders fans out in normal public (IE: not a Raiders or Broncos game). Once on BART in, like, July, I saw a guy in a Broncos polo take a few swings at a kid in a Tim Brown jersey seemingly unprovoked. I also once saw a lady in a Mimi's Cafe in Castro Valley walk up to another table and just start cussing the whole family up and down for wearing Raiders gear. She was really tiny and had on an oversized Terrell Davis jersey. It was the strangest thing.

I want to believe Raiders fans have utility belts full of knives and that the stabbing knife is clearly labeled as such, next to the slashing knife, the throwing knife, and the butter knife.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

I was thinking the same thing. They carry a Top Chef like canvas knife pack at all times that has all their different knives in it.

"honey, get the stabbing knife ready. This bronie wants to tussle. Then call the cops."

It'll do less to harm the league's reputation than Draft Day ever could.

Draft Day is one of the greatest sports movies I've ever seen. And by great, I mean terrible but improbably watchable.

It's like a dumb Moneyball with less likeable people across the board. It also had the benefit of making the NFL look worse than it does, even though the movie was made with NFL consent.

It's required viewing, really. There was a great writeup on Grantland about it, but I can't find it.

EDIT: Found it -- From a Bull Simmons weekly picks story: http://grantland.com/the-triangle/the-sports-guys-week-2-nfl-picks/

Draft Day was great because it was clearly written by people who know nothing about football or even sports as a whole and their entire research was they watched the NFL draft once. It'd be like if I wrote a movie about opera.

The thing I find most surprising about the trailer is the use of NFL logos and Stadiums. Does the NFL have to consent to that, or does the studio just pay a sum of money?

Studios do not have to pay if the logos are used as originally intended, thus why HBO was unapologetic to the NFL regarding "Ballers".

In this case, Sony (if you believe reddit and the hacked/leaked Sony emails) brought in the NFL to a degree in the writing process

Yeah, "Breast Cancer Awareness Month" seems little more than an excuse for the NFL to sell as much pink merchandise as they can. And how much of that money goes to the people who actually need it or to breast cancer research?

As for the NFL's Military Show, it seems to me too much like those politicians who grandstand for our servicepersons and then cut veterans' benefits and VA Hospital funding when they think we're not looking.

It's sad that the moves made by the Browns this season made more sense than Draft Day. We're an owner dropping dead and a trophy wife away from the NFL version of Major League.
