Cosmic
If you were at an NFL game in the past season and they saluted local members of the military, there's a good chance that it was DoD advertising, not just warm fuzzy spontaneity.http://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2015/05/which_nfl_teams_are_getting_your_federal_tax_dolla.html
NJTank
This is a disgrace on many levels. That mponey could be used to help veterans and NFL teams could be shamed into honoring vets for free. www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com
MJWalker45
I'm disappointed DoD felt they needed to pay for this. If the teams expressly requested it, even worse. I noticed that not all teams were paid for these games. And to top it off, I remember NFL Red Zone reported on the NFL donating X amount of dollars for each score. It was significantly under the numbers paid out by DoD.

FiddySicks
I can't even get outraged by this, because it's just SO par for the course for the NFL. They're never going to do anything, even when it comes to making the smallest gestures, that doesn't benefit them monetarily in some way. Just look at the whole "Breast Cancer Awareness" month that they do. It was exposed as such an absolute joke which was basically nothing more than a money making scam that preyed on the emotions of cancer victims and their families. Why would anyone expect them to show an ounce of respect to the military when they have shown time and time again that they have absolutely no respect for anything but the almighty dollar? dfwabel
Santa Clara City Council (wisely) rejects the 49ers $3M cash donation for youth sports just weeks after the team unsuccessfully tried to rent the municipal youth soccer park next to Levi's Stadium for VIP Parking.http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2015/05/14/santa-clara-city-council-rejects-49ers-3-million-donation-to-help-youth-sports/

buzzcut
I object to this thread as it does not have an obscure reference as the title. I will not post again until such situation is settled. Sodboy13
And remember, not only is the NFL's pink month a merch monster that donates little of its proceeds, not only is its military appreciation a for-profit recruitment campaign, but its domestic violence awareness campaign is a mere shell of a nonprofit that appears to exist solely to allow corporations to say they're concerned about domestic violence. I know we're over 20 years past Charles Barkley telling us he is not a role model, but Christ, guys, he never said anything about being such a wanton butthole about it.
