Here's a redesign I made a while back for the Avs. I think it's better than their current set, and feedback is appreciated.

Like the fact that they're going to bring back the old Colorado Rockies unis.

The Colorado state jersey just seems out of place.

It's partially a jersey to show Colorado pride, (We Coloradans have a lot of it.) and partially a throwback to the Rockies logo. Note the Rockies patch on the shoulder.

Isn't the Rockies history owned by New Jersey?

I always said, if you're gonna go the Rockies route, use today's color palette to recolour everything.

It's not the "Rockies" route though. Its not the Rockies at all.

Its the state flag of Colorado route. With the state of colorado colors. Which just *happen* to be (for obvious reasons) the colors that were used and chosen by the original Denver based hockey team.

So, if you put the state flag of Colorado on a jersey, and re-color it to the Avs pallette, it looks just as out of place to residents of Colorado (I imagine) as does the other way around to the much smaller faction of hockey uniform sticklers :D

Actually, as a Coloradan, it looks fine. Also a Coloradan, I prefer the first one, but I wouldn't be upset with the newer one.

This may be unpopular, but if a team ditches an identity and location, I don't see anything wrong with someone else adopting it (assuming it makes sense, and assuming they don't truly want to lay official claim to it).. As a one-off to pay homage to the old local team and also spark some state pride, I think it's a great idea

The Senators currently use a 3rd jersey paying homage to another team to play in the city; The old Ottawa Senators. I Agree with everything you said.

.... the original senators played in like the early 1900s. The Rockies left denver in 79/80.
