It's that time once again, people. 64 teams enter the field, but only 8 will reach college baseball's holy land: Omaha.

First, the sixteen regional hosts were announced today. They are, in alphabetical order..

-Cal State Fullerton

-Dallas Baptist

-Florida

-Florida State

-Houston

-Illinois

-Louisville

-Louisiana State

-Miami [Florida]

-Missouri State

-Oklahoma State

-TCU

-Texas A&M

-UCLA

-UC Santa Barbara (Regional held in Lake Elsinore, CA)

-Vanderbilt

So, what do you guys think? Anyone you thought should of gotten a home regional?

UC Santa Barbara

Are you saying they should of had it at home?

Is there a reason they are hosting it 164 miles from home?

Also maybe CofC could have hosted? They might be the only ones. Can't really decide who they'd host over though.

Hope my Heels can make it.

Presumably that was the closest available ballpark that can actually seat enough people for a regional. UC-Santa Barbara can only seat a thousand.

Well, I'm obviously pretty excited. Illinois had its 27 game win streak snapped during the Big Ten Tournament, but it's great that we get to host a regional. And I have a friend that just started working in Nebraska, so I'm making the trip if we're able to make it to the CWS.

Glad to see my USF Bulls in the tourney for the first time since 2002 & in the first season with new skipper Mark Kingston. I really figure this was a rebuilding season, but if this is rebuilding the future is bright. On the flip side, I was hoping to avoid the Gainesville regional but Tallahassee and Coral Gables aren't cakewalks either.

I know UCSB is hosting in Lake Elsinore, but will Dallas Baptist host in their home stadium? I think it only seats 2000.

Knew it would happen, but wish Auburn didn't get the Tallahassee regional. Auburn's record there is not too great. We've really only got one good starting pitcher at the moment in Cole Lipscomb, so that's my biggest worry going into this regional.

"I believe in Auburn and love it!"

Yeah, it does... but I guess that since Horner Ballpark is recently new (built in 2013), they gave them the go ahead.

Louisville just had the an amazing year with 25 wins in conference play (which is a new ACC record), #3 in the country, never lost a series in the regular season (regular season champs), and hosting another regional (3 straight). All this from a program in their first year in the conference and against teams like Miami, Florida State, and NC State. I expect the Cards to go Omaha again for the 3rd straight year.

It was built to meet or exceed the host requirements. It also helps to put in a bid far above the minimum of $50,000.

Region #1 - Los Angeles vs. Lake Elsinore

Lake Elsinore: UC Santa Barbara, Southern California, Virginia, San Diego State

So 164 miles away from its campus, UCSB is "hosting" schools 74/70 miles away from the stadium in USC/SDSU.

Brilliant.

Yeah it's kinda tough to say where UCSB would've hosted...Rancho Cucamonga and Inland Empire (San Bernardino) are both home next weekend.
