FIFA officials arrested on corruption charges

Well I wanted to keep these worms contained to their metal cylinder apparatus..

Just read this.

I'll stop at that before this gets out of control.

The association with gambling, even illegal gambling, in now way supports the contention that games are being thrown. Especially since sports books can influence the bets laid to ensure they make money regardless of the outcome. You'll have to do far better than that.

Have you been watching the NFL this year? Officials are caricature-like bad this season. It's as if they're showing the public the League is corrupt.

Yes they are, and no they aren't.

The problem with officiating isn't corruption, it's a combination of ludicrously- and needlessly-complicated rule book with part-time officials who aren't given the time to learn it or stay current with changes. One or (preferably) both has to be changed.

The NFL isn't as corrupt as FIFA, but Roger and the others are coming close, damn close. Remember, two owners are heavily involved in the daily fantasy sites.

Again, the fantasy sites make money when more people play, not really when certain teams win.

League is hypocritical on gambling. Players can't be associated with it, but league itself and individual owners can be. Fantasy sites are gambling. It doesn't matter whether or not the outcome of the bets can be "swayed" by an official or two, it's still wrong.

He's from the same town as Blatter, and Platini's right hand man!

But I'm all for a breath of fresh air. ESPN has said that he wants to expand the World Cup to 40 teams

40 team is to much.  also will you still see the World Cup in Russia or Qatar.  wonder if there will be some kind of boycott for both (more for Qatar if anything else).

so long and thanks for all the fish.

Obviously bought and paid for by the French... just like your avatar. :P

Nice twist! This is WAY better than a hotel, you can watch soccer in the heat, AND live like Mohammad did!

I wonder what west coast stadiums are going to get games when this thing is eventually shuttered and moved to the states.

I'm waiting for them to say they'll be offering camel taxis to the matches because they don't have enough buses.

At least we'll have plenty of advance warning. The US didn't do a half bad job of hosting the 2003 WWC on short notice but the MWC is a bigger beast.

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions)

King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)

As long as you have a year advance notice you can make it work in the US. Since it's during summer MLS and MLB are the only games in town in June and July. NBA wraps up in the first part of June and only affects 2 cities by then.

I'm waiting to see what the political situation will be like in the region in 6 years. I am aware that Qatar is relatively safe, but who knows what will happen if the Islamic StateDAESH is still mucking about in 2022.
