AndrewPF
From the show's new Twitter account:Anyone else feeling a 90's vibe with that? That was my first thought. I get a 90s daytime vibe off it. Despite the fact that it says "Late Show", design-wise it looks like the logo for a show that would come on between Maury and Ricki Lake circa 1998. http://i.imgur.com/4ahMZxD.png koizim said: And...and ya know what we gotta do? Firefly
The front of the marquee makes no sense with Stephen Colbert underneath. Is it a screen that scrolls up?
cmm
On the podcast they've been calling it The Late Show With starring Stephen Colbert. It's a cheesy joke that I really enjoy.
Dexter Morgan
Maybe they aren't done, maybe there's additional signage underneath like the older one where it says Paul Schaffer and CBS Orchestra.

GFB
Are those the same letters from Colbchella? They used to hang inside the studio of the Colbert Report... I wonder if someone snatched them on the way out.https://www.google.com/maps/@40.767857,-73.990773,3a,66.8y,235.82h,94.09t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1scKoGoRNdA9gAAAQfCRUiTg!2e0
CDixonDesign
As someone who designs in the signage industry, that marquee has one hell of an illumination. I can't imagine the number of LEDs and bulbs required to light the thing the way they have. The "Colbert" blade is pretty amazing as well. All around fantastic work. Mac the Knife
Damn, I just lost a post that was going to be good!So instead I will just say this....At this moment this is Late Night hierarchy is this.Conan O'BrienJimmy KimmelCarson DalyJimmy FallonSeth MeyersJames CourdonStephen ColbertRatings wise.. Fallon is kingJay Leno was 'king' when it came to ratings, too. Now he's an feint apparition while Letterman is talked about as the legend. Colbert doesn't have to win in ratings against Fallon to be successful anyway - just get decent numbers. And now... this...The desk position is at the LEFT of the stage, where Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra played, while Jon Batiste and his band will play stage right. This the result of a meeting between Letterman and Colbert in which Dave suggested it to Stephen as a way of "making the show his own."

2001mark
Yeah, that front marquee has to be incomplete as it reads 'The Late Show With'.Love that desk & backdrop. It has some flavour of The Colbert Report, & the lighting effects add a night time feel. @2001mark
The_Admiral
I love the Mondrian-esque stage, but it's starting to look like Colbert sans character has less edge than a butter knife. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
GFB
Why have "the" and "with" on the front marquee if there is no "Stephen Colbert" on it? Wouldn't "Late Show" on it's own be a better option?

It's a bit of an inside gag as to why it's there, but it's deliberate.
