The ten year league contract officially started with the 2002 season, but in 2001 Reebok took over all teams except those which wore Adidas, as the Adidas contracts for the Niners, Pats, Bucs and Redskins ran through the 2001 season.

Also, Adidas eventually bought Reebok. I just always assumed that was why but later I realized Adidas only bought Reebok around 2005. 4 years after Adidas stopped making NFL uniforms.

There was no league wide contract.

Reebok contract started the following season.

Well, TECHNICALLY the Reebok contract (with NFL equipment shield) went into effect the very last week of the 2001-02 NFL season. I went to the Pro Bowl that year and they had a pretty large unveiling of the new branding at the Hilton Hawiian Village. The VERY first NFL Equipment replica jerseys you could get were the gradient Pro Bowl jerseys that were used that season. They had an EXTREMELY limited amount of them, and no AFC versions because they screwed up the screen printing. I have an NFC sample version I bought and I've NEVER seen another one in person. They're one of the rarest replica jerseys you can get from the Reebok era.

I used to be a NIKE fan but they have really gone to crap lately. Their clothing in their stores is boring yet outrageously priced while their jerseys look like something a mad scientist came up with. Adidas has to much of a light colored soccer image for me to like them.

Long story short: I miss the days of Puma, Reebok, and Converse.

Yeah. My uncle got my dad a Ravens Peter Boulware #58 purple Puma jersey in 2000. One of my first football memories is seeing that jersey going through my dad's closet.
