Philly's Phinest
Skip to end of series for all 32 teams together After just finishing up my NFL series, I've decided to tackle the NHL. Like my last thread, my goal here is to tastefully modernize without going too crazy. Some of the designs will be a complete overhaul, while some will just be minor changes to perfect the look. Also, I will be expanding the league by 2 teams in the West. One in the Central and one in the Pacific to even out both conferences to 16 teams. I'm not going in any particular order here so these will just come as I have ideas and finish. As always, C&C is greatly appreciated and I hope you all enjoy! 1/32 -- Winnipeg Jets First up is the Winnipeg Jets. Jets fans have always taken their hockey seriously and have a very strong brand and sense of pride in their team. I wanted to go with a classic/sleek design here. When the Jets released their sweaters, I was never a fan of the double blue. In my concept below, I have removed the lighter shade of blue. Also of note, I removed the shoulder patches. While I really do like the logo, I have decided that the design works better without them. Home/Road/Alternate Sweater The home jersey is primarily dark blue. The jersey crest remains unchanged. Striping is consistent on the sleeves and the waistline. It features a thick white bottom stripe with a thinner silver stripe above. Numbers are white with a silver outline. Collar is two toned with silver on the top and white on the bottom. The collar laces have also been removed as I feel like the pointed collar ties in better with the sharpness. The away sweater is much like the home with white becoming the primary. New here is a blue yoke which comes down to a point just above the sleeve numbers as opposed to the traditional rounded yoke. I feel that this blends well with the design, especially the tip of the Jet in the logo. Numbers are now blue with a silver outline. The third sweater is a white alternate. I thought this would be fitting and they could wear it for special occasions such as "White outs" as they have had in the past. Essentially it is the road jersey with the Jets wordmark angled across the front.
CubsFan4Life
Sorry but I love the double blue to be honest, but the striping's a bit better (especially on the roads)
les3couleurs
Home and away are nice and clean. It would be a very respectable set.Though I don't think personally it is better than what they have right now. I like their current design it's modern and classic at the same time.White alt is a good idea, but it'd be nice for it to be different from the away I think in terms of jersey design. Not just the logo. Can't wait to see the rest, pretty good start even if most of my commentary seems negative.
New York's Greatest
I love the away alt but the home with the double blue doesn't work for me http://i.imgur.com/Yz8Jexr.png
BrianVlietDesign
Your first concept is nicely done, although as someone mentioned before I'm not sure it is necessarily better than what they already have. I like their lighter shade of blue currently used and adding it into the design is an idea to explore. As for the alternate, I like it. But, having the road and alternate sweaters being the same doesn't seem practical. Make a few modifications and I can get on board with it. Maybe even make it sort of a fauxback to some extent. habsfan1
I you want to Jets script to work like that, you'll have to slightly distort it on one of the corners instead of rotating it. I think I see what you tried to do. Make it look like it's approaching from a distance?I personally would add a bit more angle to the stripes on home and road, because it would blend better with the yoke a bit more. Philly's Phinest
Thanks all for the comments on the Jets. I've taken all into consideration and here are my plans of action. 1 - I'm going to angle the sleeve striping a bit to match the yoke. 2 - I'm going to re-visit the alternate and differentiate it from the away and 3 - I will make a rendition with the light blue, but will post separately. I should have my first revision up sometime this afternoon.Awesome start to this series, the home and the road look spectacular. =DI guess great minds think alike haha! In all seriousness, I've never seen this before and I have to agree that they're eerily similar. However, I do like rendition of the third jersey a lot. Philly's Phinest
Alright so here is what I came up with...Angled Striping RevisionI took Habsfan1's advice and angled the striping on the home and road to better match the yoke. I really like how it turned out honestly.Double BlueAs a lot have commented that they like the double blue, I took my original concept and the angled stripe concept and have added the double blue back into the look. I kept the numbers outlined in silver as I think it gives the jerseys a better balance as opposed to more blue...Alternate OptionsLastly, I went a little crazy with some alternate options. I've kept the theme of a white alternate. Descriptions are below.1) This one is a little crazy, but pays homage back to their Thrasher days in Atlanta2) This is the original alternate posted above3) Minimal use of color. Going for a white out look. Classic striping with no yoke gives it a plain/minimalist feel4) Same as #2 without the shoulder yoke5) Really went for the white out look with the use of different silvers/gray. Only use of color is the dark blue and the red leaf (which I thought made the logo pop). Kind of going off what the Miami Heat does with their white hot jerseys.Let me know what you like the best or how I can improve any.
timberwolf
Numbers 2 and 5 look stellar! I can't decide between the two! Also, I would recommend decreasing the slant the Jets word mark is on, it looks too forced. Keep it slanted, but not THAT slanted.Excellent work, Philly! Carolingian Steamroller
I like alternates 1 and 3 best. The regular set with the slanted is a great way to do the white jersey so for the alternate the field is open to do something crazy.

Philly's Phinest
2/32 -- Carolina HuricanesAlright so while people are still checking out the Jets, I finished up the Hurricanes. There are a few new elements and an all new reconstructed third jersey below...Home Jersey:Let me start by saying, I really don't like the Hurricanes new look and that the jerseys prior were much better in my mind. However, I did have a few problems with the old sweaters which I attempted to fix here. For starters, I've switched up the sleeve pattern. I've eliminated white to give the jersey a more cohesive look. Also, I fixed the clunky bottom waistline. I've eliminated the gray there and went with white, black and red. Also, I got rid of the black bottom half and left it red.Away Set:These may be my favorite out of the three. White takes precedence as the primary color on the road. Shoulder yoke is red with a black rounded outline. Sleeve pattern is consistent with the home. Numbers and NOB are red with a black outline.Black Storm Alternate:Similar to what I did with the white out for Winnipeg, I thought a blackout would fit Carolina perfect. I've always liked their black third jerseys so I wanted a spin off of those. I made use of the shoulder patch from that set and turned it into the primary crest here. I changed the eye of the storm to red to make it pop. No white at all in this set. When I think of a devastating storm, you thing darkness, absence of light so I went as dark as I could here. New sleeve striping as well. Sort of mimics the edges of the logo.
TheBigBuc
For the Florida Panthers, can you add in some subtle Palm frond designs to represent the palm trees that South Florida is famous for
New York's Greatest
Number 2 is best and the Carolina alt I am not sure what to think Black on black usually doesn't work but yet it doesn't look to bad http://i.imgur.com/Yz8Jexr.png
SSmith48
You may have to go back to the drawing board on Carolina. The striping is very inconsistent and I find it very distracting. However, I think you could keep the flag striping, but making it more like the arm striping by making the flag details sublimated into another color. jrcollis714
Sorry but I love the double blue to be honest, but the striping's a bit better (especially on the roads)I like the double blue too, but this looks sharp. Maybe straighten the wordmark on the alternate, and then you have a fantastic Jets concepts. 2 and 4 are the best alternates. Carolina lokks good, I really like the alt.
