Also I'm not really good with the programs but I hope you could give me some criticism about my project: I started designing logos for eventual future hockey franchises (as others did as well). I'm a fan of easy and clear structures so here are my two first designs:The city of Seattle also named the Emerald city deserves a hockey team in my opinion so I took the emerald and the city's colour. If the team is called Metropolitans or not in their history is still changeable, but I wanted to do something different than another designer did here (Totems). If there's a team given to Quebec every name but Nordiques wouldn't be accepted as I think, so here is my suggestion: the rose of the compass and the fleur de lis! flyersfan Posted July 19, 2015 Share Posted July 19, 2015 Quebec looks great, but that's a lot of colors. Do shades like the fleur de Lis be navy and royal, and the copies be light and dark grey. Possibly a red outline for the logo? And I d put Seattle across the emerald, rather than above it. Just some suggestions, they are your logos, but I want to say it's a fantastic start. YelichGraphics Posted July 19, 2015 Share Posted July 19, 2015 not a fan of quebec. you basically just took the fleur de lis and the compass, and mixed them together with crazy colors. spend just a tad more time on these, research the city, the sports teams, what an emerald looks like, look through the host site in the nhl section and look at all of the great traditional, logos, draw them out on paper first, and if you dont like it try it again. its all part of making the best concept as possible Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

My advice: it would be nice to see the Emeralds with a green gem and blue accents. For the Nordiques you should stick with red white and blue. sportsherald Posted July 20, 2015 Share Posted July 20, 2015 Seattle's flag is described as teal blue-green (mostly blue, to my eye), representing Puget Sound, not emeralds. Apparently, it was created for the 1990 Goodwill Games and only three copies were ever made, but it does contain an S symbol with Chief Seattle (based on the city seal) that might fit as a secondary.The 'brilliant' gem cut you have used is far more common for diamonds. Emeralds are more often cut in a rectangular 'emerald' cut shown on the left side of the image.I have long proposed a Québec Nordiques logo based on the compass rose, noting that the fleur de lis was often used on the rose to indicate North. I never came up with a satisfactory design myself, but there are some other excellent concepts of this elsewhere on this site. So I used your color suggestion and it turned out to be better as I think: @1insaneguy: How would you use the red? I couldn't find a proper way to get it into the design.. I hope you are satisfied with the Seattle concept shown above@sportsherald: So I've fallen to a misinformation on the internet. Didn't think this could exist I think a rectangular cut would be more static so I've chosen that... If there's a concept based on the fleur de lis and a compass on this site I'm really sorry and didn't know it! wquarton Posted July 20, 2015 Share Posted July 20, 2015 Yea, at first I didn't like the emeralds Idea, but I think the issue is execution right now. Theres gotta be a way to make it look 3D like he said /\ and thats the only way I think this works. Also the S seems like its behind the emerald. Also I think I would fatten out the emerald a little. Like keep it as wide as it is, but squish it a little vertically - but that might just be me. Similarly with the other logo. The execution could be better but the concept is actually solid. Keep working on it, I think personally I would change the colours - you can't go wrong with the fleur de lis, but I think I the compass thingy in the background would look better if it wasn't black and grey? I'm not sure. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I feel like the colour scheme isn't fully cohesive. Overall I actually really like the concepts as I think they are simple and solid. Wildcomet Posted July 21, 2015 Share Posted July 21, 2015 I think both of these have the potential to be pretty solid logo concepts. I'd agree with making the emerald more of a classic emerald green. Maybe have the center facets the suggested shade of green and your current color for some of the side facets of the emerald, that might help to give it a 3D effect and incorporate both colors which could work well together. The compass rose with the fleur de lis could be tough to crack but I think it could be done and end up real nice together. Like has been mentioned it could be good to reconsider the coloring for those. Keep at it though, you have the start of two real good concepts I think. 1insaneguy Posted July 21, 2015 Share Posted July 21, 2015 By using Red what I mean is that the Nordiques didn't use a lot of black in their old color scheme. They mostly used blue, white, and red. For the Nordiques, I have to wonder how that logo would look if the fleur-de-lis was white, I think that might look best on a blue jersey. And maybe try removing the black lines visible on the compass rose. White flour-de-lis and red compass rose on a blue jersey might look good. This logo has good potential!
