sportzfan
The family is about as stupid as their pot head son. They really have no case, at most this gets settled out of court by him paying them a good sum of money, most likely gets dismissed.
Dalcowboyfan92
Didn't they confirm Ward had marijuana in his blood?"In their lawsuit, the Ward family counters that Stewart could've avoided the accident, per Bob Pockrass."There really wasn't anything Stewart could do since Ward basically charged at his sprint car and he was also following so close behind another competitor when he and Ward made contact. DS729
Stewart's career could be donehttp://bleacherreport.com/articles/2542551-tony-stewart-sued-by-kevin-ward-jrs-family-for-wrongful-deathCould be? Nah. Not likely. I don't know what they think they can prove here. He should have been in his car. Also, I remember I linked Bleacher Report once and was scolded for it. I'm not sure what the penalty is for this though, since it's not one of their god-awful opinion pieces.
sc49erfan15
Stewart's career could be donehttp://bleacherreport.com/articles/2542551-tony-stewart-sued-by-kevin-ward-jrs-family-for-wrongful-deathWay to sensationalize that. Nothing suggests that Stewart's career could be done. Nothing. Stewart was not indicted by the grand jury for criminal charges. At most, Stewart will have to pay Ward's family some amount of money - it will probably be settled out of court. IMO, this is a non-story.
floydnimrod
I think Tony Stewart's career be done regardless of what happens with this case. As he much as he loves all types of racing, this season is not going really well. Mancakes: The Bandhttps://twitter.com/FloydNimrod
Bengals1fan
If I were Tony Stewart, I'm not paying a dime unless ordered. The dumb ass not only didn't follow safety protocol by staying in the car, but then chose to charge a moving vehicle. At what point does his family think Tony Stewart was to blame for any of that? Sucks that he lost his life, you hate to see that happen, and you feel bad, but c'mon take responsibility for your sons actions ^^ Free Football Player Sim League -- Click Here ^^
Davidellias
New York law does not allow the Ward family to collect damages for their own pain and suffering but does allow parents to recover loss of expected future support and care that their child could have provided. And there's the dumbest bit. Cujo
Ward ran around on a live racetrack like a jackass. Doesn't help that he also had pot in his system. The family is simply looking for a payday. Shouldn't take long for this case to get thrown out.

Rockstar Matt
They have no case. Maybe Ward shouldn't have gotten out of the car and ran onto track, but that might have been too sensible. FiddySicks
I don't really understand the whole "he had pot in his system!" part of this argument. So? What does that have to do with anything? That's a really weak argument to discredit someone's character, especially in 2015. He didn't get killed because of the "devils lettuce coursing through his degenerate veins!" He got killed because he acted like a hotheaded moron. I'm pretty much positive that unless he was blazing a big ol blunt DURING the race, that part of it had absolutely zero contribution to his demise. Do you not understand that racing is dangerous enough without putting something in your system that alters your reactions and judgement. So you're okay with drivers downing a few beers before racing? No, of course not. You cannot race with ANY drug in your system!! Oh what could have been....

I'm assuming, needschat, that you don't have a lot of (or any) experience with pot, am I right? And that's fine if that's the case, most people don't. But the problem with that lack of knowledge is that most people make the weak association that any amount of pot in your system = intoxicated. That's not the case at all. Like I said, if he was blazing just before/during the race, that's one thing (I could even argue that pot in some cases actually INCREASES focus in some people, but that's for another time), but just because his blood tested positive for marijuana isn't a solid enough reason to completely discredit the guy. We can discredit him because he was moronic enough to step onto a live racetrack. It's not a case of he smoked pot and was an idiot because of that. It's a case of he was an idiot who also just so happened to smoke pot. The two things aren't one in the same. I also support the continued legalization of alcohol. Thinking a substance should be legal doesn't mean you need to think it's fine to consume it just before getting behind the wheel. Was he an idiot because he liked to smoke pot? No. He's an idiot *if* he decided to light up just before getting behind the wheel of a racecar. That's the important distinction. Needschat
Just because he had THC in his system doesn't mean he was high when he was driving; it stays in your system for about a month after you toke. One toke was not the level found in his system.
