The same thing happened to me, but on Expedition Everest! We were riding the coaster and it was fine, but then we curved around and the track was all torn up and there was a huge damn Yeti! We barely made it back before the Yeti got us and none of the cast members seemed to think it was unusual.

I had a similar experience on Thunder Mountain. The ride was going well but then i went into a shed that was filled with dynamite and the fuses started lighting up! My first thought was this could not be safe and it's got to be expensive for Disney to rebuild that section of the ride numerous times a day every time it blows up.

And don't get me started on Splash Mountain, they just throw you off the face of a mountain in a log!

You think that's bad? Our Star Tours flight was attacked by the Empire itself! Turns out, our ship was harboring a rebel spy! Scum company.

Plus, our "pilot" wasn't even licensed to fly and argued with his astromech droid the entire flight.

1/5, wouldn't fly again.

I let my family get on the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad because I thought Disney rides were safe. We made it almost at the top of the first hill when I looked up and saw that nobody was driving the train! I screamed and screamed, but nobody stopped the train. The worker at the station did not believe me. They even sent out another train without a driver! I saw it! Also, I do not remember the Railroad going that fast! I miss the stop in Mickey's Starland they never should have taken it out to add the Western town. Shame on Disney for not properly staffing their trains.

New to this thread. Fun facts and opinions:

1. I lost my phone on Boulder Dash at Lake Compounce (Bristol, Connecticut) last July. It is the only day in my life in which I have ever set foot in the state of Connecticut. I'd gladly go back, though - the overall experience was lovely.

2. I've been going to Kings Island (Mason, Ohio, near Cincinnati) since I was about three. I'm now 33. I still love it. The new Mystic Timbers is overhyped, though.

3. My love for water rides and slides is very close to my love for coasters. I have no problem spending five or six hours at a waterpark.

4. I've been to Cedar Point (Sandusky, Ohio) four times. Three of those times there were rain delays during my visit. It's a great park, but being built right next to Lake Erie definitely has its drawbacks.

5. A sneaky-good coaster I like (haven't ridden it in forever, though): Mamba at Worlds of Fun (near Kansas City, Missouri). Sort of a proto of Diamondback (Kings Island), in both ride style and snake theme.

I've road too many roller coasters to name, but I can say my top 10 are below. What stinks for me is I love wooden coasters, but I am not allowed to ride them again after having back surgery.

1. The Raptor (Cedar Point)

2. The Beast (Kings Island)

3. The Voyage (Holiday World)

4. Millennium Force (Cedar Point)

5. The Griffon (Busch Gardens - Williamsburg, VA)

6. Mean Streak (Cedar Point)

7. Vortex (Kings Island)

8. The Racer (Kings Island)

9. The Raven (Holiday World)

10. Diamondback (Kings Island)

That sucks. Sorry, nuordr.

I tend to avoid roller coasters because I get motion sick (I won't puke, but I'll feel nauseous), and the meds I've tried make me feel loopy. WDW coasters aren't some of the most thrilling around, but they're more my speed.

Apologies if I've posted this before, but if you enjoy the design and the "why" of theme parks, you should read Joe Rohde's Instagram once in a while. Here's a thread where someone collected the posts regarding Pandora (there are a couple all the way at the end that didn't make it into the main timeline): http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/joe-rohdes-collected-pandora-instagram-posts.926879/

Here's one about Kali River Rapids that I really enjoyed:

Something announced last week-ish is that Disney is going to be changing the auction scene in Pirates of the Caribbean to where the redhead is now a pirate herself. The change is coming in 2018 to Disneyland and WDW.

ajdn313.jpg

So naturally in today's world, this has lead to people on the internet calling Disney PC SJW's. Other people feel that Disney is trying to whitewash history because Pirates were actually bad people.

As for me, this doesn't really make a difference. In fact as I've thought about it more, I'm leaning towards being for it/being not against it. Having a ride scene in Disneyland where women are being sold into sexual slavery is weird and PotC isn't trying to be a historical ride.

Anybody who is upset that PotC is getting rid of a scene where pirates sell kidnapped women into sexual slavery because "PC culture done gone crazy" is an idiot and their opinion is irrelevant.

Good recommendation! Joe Rohde is one of the most interesting people I've ever seen. I've seen him walking around Animal Kingdom before and my wife and I were like "oh man, that's Joe Rohde!" but people around us looked at us like we were crazy.

Who's excited for D23 Expo?!?! Lots of big rumors regarding new attractions.

- Tron Coaster replacing Tomorrowland Speedway

- Great Mickey Ride replacing Great Movie Ride

- Ratatouille to the France Pavilion

- Contrasting rumors about a Guardians ride; many have said that the Universe of Energy is the spot and a some (twitter folks) have said Tower of Terror because Disney don't want rides based on IP the don't own or control.

- Opening dates for Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land

That's pretty much what I've heard, except the guy I trust the most says that the Tron coaster won't replace the Speedway and Guardians is definitely going in Energy. The current building will be the queue and the load station, while the ride will be in a new building.

Supposedly, this is the ride system for Guardians:

Who is "the guy you trust most," Coz?

Also, forgive the ignorance, but what's the deal with the Marvel/Disney geographic split? How can GotG go in WDW? I thought Marvel stuff was gonna be a Disneyland exclusive?

I think they can't have anything that Islands of Adventure has, so no Cap, Spidey, Hulk, Dr Doom, etc. Proof of it is the interactive magic show with Dr Strange and the meet and greet with GOTG characters in Hollywood Studios.

His username is marni1971 on the WDWMagic forums. He has apparently made a lot of friends through his attraction tribute videos (MartinsVids on YouTube and Vimeo). There are also people there that obsessively check permits that Disney is required to file with various government authorities. That's how the gondola story was broken... literally connecting the dots. We know there's a building going between France and Morocco; we know there's something going on behind Energy. The insiders say that's what it's for.

The other big thing that's supposed to be announced at D23 is a Brazil pavilion next to Germany.

The Marvel thing is kind of complicated. We don't know 100% what they can or can't do in Florida. You can still read the original contract online (I'll find it when I'm not in phone), and it mentions "families" of characters. Problem is, we don't know exactly who is in these "families". The Guardians and Dr. Strange have had character meets in WDW, so they must be okay. Disney can't use the Marvel name no matter what in Florida. They haven't been using it in California, but I don't know if that's contract or for consistency. They didn't use "Marvel" with their Summer of Heroes promotion in Disneyland, but they did with basically the same idea in Hong Kong. Disney can use any Marvel characters in California; they're rumored to be getting a Captain America coaster.

As somebody who counts World Showcase as my favorite part of any WDW park, I'm super stoked for the addition of more pavilions to Epcot!

Straight from the SEC website: https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1262449/000119312510008732/dex1057.htm

It does state that Disneyland can't use the Marvel name, although they are free to use any characters they want.

Some of the relevant parts:

"East of The Mississippi - any other theme park is limited to using characters not currently being used by MCA at the time such other license is granted. [For purpose of this subsection and subsection iv, a character is “being used by MCA” if (x) it or another character of the same “family” (e.g., any member of THE FANTASTIC FOUR, THE AVENGERS or villains associated with a hero being used) is more than an incidental element of an attraction, is presented as a costumed character, or is more than an incidental element of the theming of a retail store or food facility; and, (y) in addition, if such character or another character from the same “family” is an element in any MCA marketing during the previous year. Any character who is only used as a costume character will not be considered to be “being used by MCA” unless it appears as more than an incidental element in MCA’s marketing.]"
