AUDL discussion page (American Ultimate Disk League)

This website has not one other AUDL page on here, not even their logos, so I decided to create a discussion topic (as I did with the MLL)

now many of you will say "frisbees not a sport, it's stupid!"

and I really don't care

So as in my MLL page for now I will be discussion expansion, and if you want you can talk about the Spiders winning the championship.

Right now, i personally don't wanna see expansion this year, besides bringing the SLC Lions back, and adding 2 more south teams

Those two south teams I believe will be in the cities of Birmingham, Memphis, Orlando, or Tampa. All of those would help with travel costs since they r close to another team that is primarily farther away.

I believe either Salt Lake City will come back or the Texas division will be made, tho I hope a Tampa team is announced #TampaStrong

Expansion for the AUDL (or any fledgling sports league) is dumb. It's just a way to make money via expansion fees and it'll kill the league. Ultimate in Birmingham, Memphis, Orlando, or Tampa would not work. There are hardly any good club ultimate teams down there, and thus, no base to draw talent from.

Also, hashtags don't work here.

I played intramural Ultimate in college, love the game.

I feel like the AUDL's grasp is exceeding its reach. Adding so many expansion teams in such a short time is likely to lead to the league's ruin. It's no secret that there's animosity between them and the MLU, but their desire to bury the competition is leading them to stretch themselves too thin. New leagues (if they even make it) always move clubs around a lot. They're leaving themselves no open relocation candidates.

The most likely scenario is losing face and having to contract the league. Even if they can sustain the number, with so many it'll likely take them longer to get any progress with profitability. If I ever live in a city that has a team, I'll probably get more invested.

True I'm not sure about all the expansion they've done its prey crazy, the least they could is bring back SLC bringing the West to 7 again, and add to south teams to get them at 7 also. But at the same time, their ain't many cities in the south

BREAKING NEWS: this just in the AUDL announces the Dallas Roughnecks and Austin Sol will be joining the South Division for next season. They also mentioned that it seems that Salt Lake City will NOT come back next season. Now with this expansion every division has 7 teams except the West (6)

I'm not sure if this will ever become anything more than a niche league, but based on the business models of the two (AUDL vs. MLU) I'd have to say that my money is currently on the MLU for longevity.
