wquarton
Hey guys, back again with a simpler version of a design I brought here when I first got here.Hoping it's better.
ren69
If I may suggest something, You currently have 13 active threads. If your working on a series which you stated you were (Canadian soccer crest series). All you need is one thread for all your designs including any updates & revisions you make to them. You can edit your title everytime you add something new to your series. As of now your creating a thread for each individual logo then a separate thread for your update of that same logo. I know your new to the boards here (welcome) & I hope this makes sense to you. https://www.behance.net/Ren1969 https://twitter.com/Ren1969_Rene
wquarton
Okay, sorry, I suppose it is a little excessive now that you mention it, I will do so. Is there any way of amalgamating them all into one thread at this point?
ujju2
It's not bad, but it looks like the top was cut off. As well, the elements of the crest seem too big. May I suggest shrinking the wild rose and the hare and placing them in opposite quarters? Like on the 2 black parts or something. And maybe Move Edmonton and add FC to the crest as well. Much better than the original, so good work.
wquarton
Much better than my original, or much better than their current one? K i'll give that a shot.

Is there any way of amalgamating them all into one thread at this point? Not Sure. You can place all your previous logos into this one since it's the latest one you did & rename it. You can probably ask the mods to delete all your other threads once you've added all your work into this one. https://www.behance.net/Ren1969 https://twitter.com/Ren1969_Rene

That definitely makes sense, although it's gonna be a ridiculous thread cause I'm a little scatter brained, like to work on many at once. anyways, for now.. This one is better, but I would suggest moving Edmonton above the crest. Then you can end the crest at the top of the squares and center the flower and rabbit. Also, the outline around the white should all be one color--whichever color you chose to put behind the Edmonton that would sit on top of the crest. OmegaRed
Great ideas by the post above. I would totally place the rabbit in the centre of the flower. Keep it simple.
sportsherald
I agree with many of the comments here, including that this is already better than the current FC Edmonton logo. The jackrabbit/hare is ubiquitous in Edmonton, and the appearance of one at the home field is taken as a good omen- FC Edmonton already depicts one on the back of the neck of their uniform. It would add some much-needed personality to the main logo. The design ideas here carry forward the quartered blue and black shield from the current official logo, which has no particular meaning, and need not be kept, if it doesn't fit with the rest of a new design. Therefore, no need to place miniature jackrabbits and wild roses on the quarters, one larger combination would be simpler and better.I have commented on the main site that the local nickname for this team, "the Eddies," reminds me of the same nickname being applied to the Loyal Edmonton Regiment based here. Its badge and regimental flag are not paragons of heraldry, but they do provide some elements that could be tied in (with their permission). The coyote and the jackrabbit might not get along, but the Lancashire red rose and the Alberta wild rose might. Even turning the quartering in the background 45 degrees could be used as a reference to the windmill.Wikipedia describes the meaning behind these symbols:'The badge features a coyote, named Lestock, who was adopted by the 49th Infantry Battalion (Edmonton Regiment), CEF, in Lestock, Saskatchewan, on its way east to embark for Europe during the First World War. The coyote is centred in front of a windmill sail [referring to WWI action in Flanders] surrounded on its sides by maple leaves; above the coyote's head is the red rose of Lancashire, symbolizing the unit's affiliation with The Loyal Regiment (North Lancashire)[3] of the British Army; below the coyote's head and resting on a scroll inscribed THE LOYAL EDMONTON REGIMENT, are the numerals 49; the whole is surmounted by the Crown.' Use the rules of heraldry for more effective sports logos! i.e. keep it simple, use good contrast...
wquarton
Damn, some solid Ideas. If you wanna take this ball and run with it sportsherald I'll support the hell out of your design. All I want is that the rabbit and rose be included. I'm not sure exactly what you're proposing, but what I see in my mind is the black and blue on the windmills(no thatches, just using the shape) Ditch the crown(IMO), Replace the leaves with F and C(I see it as optional but they prefer to have this included), put the rabbit in the middle( I guess you could have the rabbit head, but I'm a fan of the jumping rabbit) and the rose above(where the current one is). That, or replace the coyote head with the rose and put the rabbit where the rose is(I like the idea of the rabbits hoping over wild roses personally). That, plus, with this homage to the regiment, you could easily call the supporters section "The regiment" or something along those lines. If you'd prefer, I can do one up(or we both can, and combine elements after)Seriously though I think we're on to something. I'm back in edmonton now if you wanna get a beer and discuss..?

wquarton
Tried that, just does not look good. Still think the windmill is better -
Jake88
I agreed with Ren when I first went onto this thread but seeing how much better this looks now, I'm pretty amazed. I think the next and possibly final step would be to add a less generic font to it, like what you had to begin with; Calibri isn't exactly a sports font
wquarton
Ah yea, regarding the # of active threads, still don't know how to amalgamate them all - If any mod could let me know that'd be great... I'm kinda weird where I like to start with something pretty raw, and sit on it until I really have something to add, so I kinda like having a bunch of active ones, but if its annoying I can stop. The banners a little clunky still, but I'm thinking its getting close to the final form. Ill post a couple updates with a few different fonts once i fix it up and hopefully one will pop. Thanks for the feedback

philhiney
Changing the font and cleaning up the banner has improved this logo drastically! Great job!
Whittier S
The ears feel a little short. Maybe the subspecies around Edmonton is otherwise, but jackrabbits typically have rather large ears.
