Two NFL Concepts

SFCOM1

Recommended Posts

I was Wandering about the boards and saw a couple of concepts I liked out there. So this is a bit "Old School" on the newer Nike template.

So first up is my old Hometown team. The Detroit Lions!

Home Uniform. Older design, updated "Bubbles" logo and numerals. Eliminating the black striping and borders.

What do you think. And if the person who created this Nike template could give a shout-out. I would love to give you credit!

Second team up. The Arizona Cardinals.

This is a very small tweek. I removed 90% of the black piping, and cleaned up a couple of flaws (IMHO) from their set.

First off the Home Uniform

I removed the white from the sleves and the gussets, and did a single black stripe on the sleve hem and the collar, I also lenghtened the pants striping all the way to the bottom of the pants.

Road Uniform

Same thing here, kept the red shoulders, and removed the excess black piping

Here the uniform jersey has no extra white on it, Just red piping for the sleve hem and collar.

I like the Lions' regular home and old-school home and road uniforms. They look very similar to my conceptualizations of their uniforms. Same with the Cardinals' home uniforms.

I would put the blue-white-blue stripes or (more old-school) blue-silver-blue stripes down the middle of the Lions' old-school helmets though, as they wore plain silver helmets before they went to the uniforms with sleeve stripes and socks in 1961, at which time they added the unoutlined-in-white helmet logo and blue stripes to the helmet.

As for the Cardinals, I would change the sleeves and shoulders of the road jerseys to white. Red shoulders AND sleeves look a bit too busy and gimmicky in my opinion. Just red sleeves with white shoulders (where the TV numbers are) would be okay.

Oh, and one more thing: THANK YOU for not doing any monochrome (i.e. blue-on-blue, etc.) uniforms as well as for eliminating the black trim from the Lions' uniforms. Good job overall.

I was looking through a couple of old photos I have (family was a longtime season ticket holder for the Lions, back in the Briggs/Tiger Stadium era. The helmet had Blue/silver/Blue on the 60's era helmet and the plain "Bubbles" with no white border. So I plan to update that.

And my pleasure to get rid of the black!

arizona's home and alternate need more white

I can understand that. I used previous "Tradition" when it came to the home and "Alternate". In the past the Cardinals home jersey was a very plain "Cardinal" red, with white numerals. I added a touch of black to give it distinction. Hardest part since all the previous versions of the Cardinals home uniforms where plain, just adding stripes was not very conclusive, though possibly like Kansas City striping near the sleeve hem might work. The Alternate I planned like that. A stark, dark contrast to the bright red and white that the Cardinals wear.
