SFCOM1's NFL {Old School with tweeks)

SFCOM1

Recommended Posts

Since the orginal topic got some great feedback, I am extending my concept to include all the NFL (hardest part is going to be Seattle, Baltimore, Jacksonville, and Tennessee as their team history are knid of mixed up. Except for Jacksonville, their unforms have always been a bit mixed up anyways!)

This not going to be in any specific order, as I will post as I complete them

First off the two teams already done

Now my first new Concept of this thread

The Dallas Cowboys

I decided to use one silver, blue, and white color template for this concept (though the blue is a touch darker than the original blue used currently) I also restored the original "home" blue uniform as the alternate (as Dallas always wears white)

I think I saw your Lions and Cards concepts earlier. Either way I like what you did for the Lions. But, the Cardinals alternate looks like something the Falcons used to wear. I think it would look much better if there you made the collar red. For the Cowboys: I feel like Navy would look better for them. Mostly, it's the away set. To me, there just something about it that makes it look like the Colts. Also, for all of these (and this may just be the template you're using), the numbers look a bit small to me.

Its the template for the numbers. I am looking at making an adjustment. Though I ilke the smaller font for the Cowboys. The current font used is way too large (i am supprised the numbers dont wrap all the way around thier current home set.)

As for the Cards alt. Making the coliar red is something I am looking at, but then it would look way too much like the Falcons, but currently those two teams look alot alike any way!

Yeah, you're right about the Cardinals and Falcons looking alike. As I'm thinking about it, I'm starting to realize it would be better if the Cardinals didn't have an alt at all. That's not really your fault, though.

About the numbers: It is mostly the front numbers I'm talking about, but an adjustment might do some good.

Slight increase in the size for the numbers. They now match the size for the Lions and Cardinals. I like the Navy far better for the Cowboys than the Royal Blue I had picked. So the colors are now the same.

Next contestant up!

Washington

Now I did not include the bame "Redskins" on purpose, as I honstely believe Dan Snyder will eventualy cave into pressure, or have the team taken away and have the name changed. So here is my "old school" concept.

Washington2.png

As you can see this is a classic look from the "hogs" era. Slight tweek to the colors, darkening them to a richer maroon and gold than the originals. I also added a third pair of pants (white) per their classic look.

I also removed the striping and current Redskin logo, with the '50's era spear, as it fits the uniform style better IMHO. Also I would prefer the team name change to "Warriors" if any change was to happen, and it still works for "Redskins" as well.

I LOVE the ones you did for the Cowboys. (And not just because your Cowboy concepts look a lot like mine. ;) )

Yea, I see that, but a lot of Uniform "purests" (like me) believe that uniforms are that, ment to be uniform. And that is what the Cowboys currently not! And like they say "Great minds think a lot alike!" LOL

Love the Redskins uniform...the return if the burgundy pants is a must and that helmet with the modern color scheme...love it.

The Lions and Cards, both removed the unnecessary crap; you cleaned them up nicely.

Dallas is now fixed too.

Good work.

One more update for the day.

I'm staying in the NFC East. So here is "BIG BLUE"

The New York Giants

I added Northwestern stripes to the home uniform to match with the road set. Got rid of the excess Red in the road set. Added a red outline to the road set, and deleted the grey in the Home pants

Cardinals: A classy, NFL caliber look

Lions: A nice way to keep the Lions uniforms looking awesome

Cowboys: Being a HUGE Cowboys fan, I always wondered why the had Navy on the helmets and royal blue on the jersey. This ties it all together. The roads are great too.

Redskins: As much as they suck, these are nice. I would also like the name to be switched to Warriors, and those spear helmets would work. They look great, by the way.

Giants: They suck too. Even the uniforms. The away is cool, but the home is so boring. This fixes that. Living in New York, I have a lot of Giants fans that are my friends, and they want more color on both uniforms. This is what they would want.

Great work overall

Favorites: Dallas Cowboys, New York Yankees, New York Rangers, New York Knicks, Cam Newton ND Irish

Least Favorites: New York Giants, New York Mets, Washington Capitals, Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Eagles, OBJ

Washington looks great. Cowboys look so much better with navy blue. I'm also glad you added blue to the Giants away jersey.

Yea, How can you be "Big Blue" with a compleately red number and letter road jersey. Even worse was the red "Alt" (that I deleted from Existance!)

Your Giants and Warriors concepts are cool too. (I renamed the Redskins the "Braves" on my concepts.) Personally, I would have the Warriors wear the gold pants with their white jerseys as well, but they also look good with the burgundy pants. As for the Giants, I've always been partial to the sleeve stripes on their 1975-79 jerseys, if you want them to have more color. (I did a 1975 throwback home uniform for the Giants on my concepts, complete with the unique helmets they only wore that one season.) Actually I have no problem with their current uniforms, which are the uniforms they wore from 1956(?) to 1960, the only changes being the numerical font and the location of the TV numbers on the shoulders of the current jerseys. And also they did not add the "ny" logo to their helmets until 1961.

Good job, man. And great minds DO think alike (and sometimes my not-so-great mind gets lucky and coincides with someone else's great idea). :)

I'm kind of partial to Northwestern stripes for some teams. But it's my concept, and I like the look (and since the giants where using them on their current roads why not tweak those and add them to the home uni as well). It's all about being "Uniform!" ;-)

I can dig that about the Giants' uniforms. I would just reverse the color order to red-blue-WHITE-blue-red on the blue jerseys and red-white-BLUE-white-red on the white jerseys, kind of like the aforementioned 1975-79 sleeve stripes. (The capitalizations were meant to illustrate the wide center stripes.)

Yes, I know that would remind Giants fans of the Miracle At The Meadowlands-era, but I have always liked those uniforms.
