WTF is that?!? Can't they just name the team the 'Ontario Clippers' or 'Anaheim Clippers' instead?

Agua Caliente seems to be a casino sponsorship...

*shrugs*

If history is any indication, they'll use it for the better part of a decade, change their name to Ontario Clippers, and get a new logo.

Then we get to look forward to all their fans hijacking threads to in-fight about which identity was better.

Thunder Bay Lynx - International Hockey Association (2 seasons, 2017-18, 2019-20, 2018 Xtreme Cup Champions)Houston Armadillos - Major League Hockey (2 seasons, 2016-18) | Minnesota Muskies - North American Basketball Association (1 season, 2017-2018) | Louisville Thoroughbreds - United League of Baseball (1 season, 2017, 2017 United Cup Champions) | Las Vegas Thunderbirds - International Basketball League (1 season, 2016-17, 2017 Champions)

So looking on the D-League website, if you go to the Teams tab, they have the new Clippers listed as the "ACC Clippers"

so they're the Agua Caliente Clippers Clippers (of Ontario)

I don't even know any more.....

They also have Bucks NBA D-League Team and Grizzlies NBA D-League Team so hopefully those identities will come soon as well as the likely rebranding of the Iowa Energy

My guess is the second "C" in "ACC" stands for Casinos.

It's a stupid name, but at least the logo looks decent.

Or ACC is their official abbreviation for league purposes (scorebug on TV, etc)

New Orleans Pelicans to get pitches from 5 cities vying for Development League franchise

As I suspected, St. Tammany Parish is out; they have no facility.  Jackson has an antiquated coliseum- I can remember going to a rodeo there in 1968 when I was 4 years old.  Shreveport is planning a new arena...

Still think Biloxi would have been perfect; not sure why they didn't pursue...

It is what it is.

So the G-League stands at 26 teams for 2017... last teams remaining are below with best info status:

- New Orleans (closest to obtaining a team, looking at potential sites)

- Denver (Omaha is said to be investigating getting a G-League team, and seemed like Minnesota (now unnecessary) and Denver were tossed around as possible affiliates)

- Portland (no news on the front)
- Washington (sounds like they'll have a team for 2018 when the Wizards/Mystics practice arena is ready to go)

I was just looking ta things because I saw that Atlanta was supposed to field a new team but it seems they're keeping the BayHawks in Erie for a year or two before moving to College Park, GA. but it's being considered "separate" from the original Erie BayHawks.  Can only imagine how horrible that detailed logo will look with Atlanta's neon and red front and center

Correct, the Bayhawks franchise #1 moved to become the Lakeland Magic.  Bayhawks #2 looks to be a new "franchise" which will relocate to suburban Atlanta in a few years.

I've thought about Portland using the old Memorial Coliseum for a D team even though it's used primarily by the Winterhawks. Rip City Explorers! OK maybe not.

It would be really tough to get the Winterhawks out of the Coliseum. The best bet for Portland might be either in the suburbs or going outside of the city limits.

Bring back the Mobile Revelers, please...only this time give them a proper logo:
