Interesting photoshop on these "official pictures"...the White Sox have the Sox logo patch on the sleeve in one view, and the hanging sock patch in another view...

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

Question, are these intended only for spring training GAMES? As in, when the players are on a backfield and throwing a bullpen session or just stretching with the team during workouts, what will they wear? These jerseys, the BP jerseys, or something else? I think I'd like to see these limited to actual games and the BP jerseys and caps used in workouts.

Also, when teams wear these during the regular season, will all the spring patches and subliminated designs be removed?

The Jays cap makes zero sense.  Why is it in Yankees colours?  I thought the entire point of the maple leaf BP caps was to put more red into the jerseys to better represent Canada?

This seems like a huge step backwards, and more like change just for the sake of change.

Not a fan.

There were so close last year, just give us what we all want:

Not only that, but Majestic used the wrong number font. Before someone says, "Maybe they're changing the font?" they used the same incorrect font on the Sox' most recent BP jerseys when they were unveiled.

ya'll are hard to please. i'm loving what im seeing here. MLB/Majestic really stepped up this year

I really like the Red Phillies jersey which is also a regular season alt.

I wonder what a blue one would look like with the blue/red cap...

Seeing the picture of Syndergaard in pinstripes from Chris's story is infuriating. I can't believe MLB allowed this crap with Majestic eliminating pinstripes from the side of jerseys. There's not a single reason for that to happen.

As for the spring jerseys - not good, but mostly harmless. I'm really surprised, though, that they dated these with the year. For those who didn't read the story, the sublimation on the letters/numbers contains 2016. Majestic is really taking a gamble on this new line, and I think it's going to fail pretty hard. I imagine you'll see a whole crapload of ST jerseys and hats on clearance by October at the latest. And since they'll be almost identical to the alternate jersey for many teams, it'll be worthwhile to buy a ST jersey for dirt cheap and rip off the sleeve patch.

Some of these are freaking fantastic. I absolutely LOVE the Royals BP cap with the crown. Other hats, like the Mariners, White Sox, D Backs, Cardinals, Rangers, Dodgers, and a few others absolutely blow their previous BP caps put of the water. There are a few that only made small changes, such as the A's and Giants, that I absolutely love. I'm SO happy the Giants just went with the traditional all black cap rather than bring in some wonky orange crowned cap. And happy Oakland avoided a yellow cap, too.

There are a few that feel pretty unnecessary, like the Yankees paneled caps and the Padres dumb bell caps that feel completely out of place and wholly unnecessary.

Then there are a few, like the Blue Jays, Tigers (orange cap), and (I'm sorry, but it SUCKS) Marlins, that are an absolute disaster.

Overall, it really isn't that far removed from the original release of the BP caps. Some great, some ehh, one or two retina searing. Par for the course, really.

Could also be that they're mishmashing things even more by using the '83 font.

when regular season begins teams will go back to regular bp hats and jerseys

It's aleady been said that some teams will wear these same designs during regular season games. Yes BP caps and jerseys will return but some teams will still use these jerseys during the season.

Two immediate reactions to these as a whole while I still haven't analyzed every one individually yet...

Being presented these altogether, I'm taken aback by the striking differences in these jerseys. Of course teams should have their own styles and identities with their regular jerseys BUT if we're gonna have event-specific jerseys and caps for things like batting practice, the All Star Game, and the HR Derby, I do think they should have some uniformity to them. The year the Twins had the All Star Game every All Star Game cap was a variant on the classic Twins front-panel cap.

Now today we're presented with the entire line of 2016 Spring Training uniforms and they're all so different that I don't get it. Like the logos on the caps, some have the primary logos, some have the secondary, some have like a third level logo, some have a brand new logo, some have a recolored logo, some are a primary logo with an unnecessary outline. Am I the only who thinks that for something like this there should be more uniformity in the designs? The previous Batting Practice jerseys and caps were much more in line with eachother.

Individually some of these may look excellent but I feel like this is gonna create some awkward design clashes during the games themselves.

Admittedly this may not be a horrible thing but it strikes me as very odd to have a collection of special event jerseys that aren't using similar design elements.

Second observation, this one is more of a negative. Too many teams have a new cap with a revamped old jersey. That's a HUGE no no, a HUGE clash.

The Twins, Rays, and Astros did it right, whether you like the new caps/jerseys or not, those teams (and others) paired a new cap with a new jersey, making it feel like they go together. The Twins have a gold-outlined logo on a red jersey? Well they smartly have a gold-outlined logo on a red cap as well.

Then you have teams like the Marlins, Braves, Blue Jays, and Rangers who have paired new caps with old jerseys creating an ugly clash of designs. The Marlins new recolored M is now completely different than the M on their sleeve patch and that's killing me. If the Marlins were gonna have new caps with an all orange M then the jersey should have that same new M on the sleeve as well as recoloring the MIAMI wordmark to match the cap logo. The Braves paired their old school lowercase 'a' with their newer navy jersey, so they're combining eras in one uniform. I think it's obvious what's wrong with the Blue Jays new cap and jersey combo. Are any Toronto players gonna actually allow themselves to wear that combo?

It's a horrible mix-up of designs and I'm not sure what to think of it.

Again, some of these new jerseys and caps are nice but these are being presented as a whole new collection of jerseys and I'm not sure they're gonna work in that sense.

It could be, but I think that's too subtle a thing to get any payoff on this format. I don't think it would make anyone more likely to buy this jersey just because it uses a standard font different from their current one.

Isn't there supposed to be new BP hats this year as well to be worn during the regular season?

I thought so as well but i haven't seen any other news on them

What are the odds they sell the caps without the ugly patches? That would be similar to the All Star caps the last few years. I dig the Braves cap but that patch is so dumb.

probably pretty slim, however i did get the 2014 all-star game hat without the patch

These will debut in Spring Training and be worn throughout the regular season and postseason.

This is from the MLB.com article on the new uniforms and it make no sense. So you guys are making SPRING TRAINING jerseys and caps that will be worn throughout the REGULAR SEASON and the POSTSEASON???

No one realized that that makes no sense?

That's not a spring training uniform, that's an alternate uniform.

If you wore the All Star Game uniform in the regular season and the postseason, it would cease to specifically be the All Star Game uniform.

And before someone says, "well these will have Spring Training numbers, letters, and patches that they won't have during the season"... then that means these are alternate uniforms with Spring Training patches and numbers, not specifically Spring Training uniforms.

It'd be like if someone told me the Mets and Royals had a specific World Series cap last October. No, they had their regular caps with World Series patches. The rest of the cap designs were the same as they were all season long.

Logic.

Via New Era's Twitter replies:
"There will be a separate cap for BP during the regular season. We can't share details at this time."

They gave this answer to anyone who asked if the new BP caps would be the ST cap minus the patch.  So, there will be new BP hats, but they may or may not be the previous hats or the new hats minus the patch or something else entirely.

And they said MLB Shop will have the hates on Monday.

Go Astros!

Go Texans!

Go Rockets!

Go Javelinas!
