TheBigFiz21
I'm assuming that all ballparks will be incorporating the Play Ball MLB logo behind the home plate. After last night's game, I saw the Orioles grounds crew with a large cut-out to stencil in the logo after last night's game (and fireworks) Update: saw the Nats-Marlins Saturday game on TV and it's along the 1st & 3rd baselines of Nats Park. So maybe where it sits depends on whether or not there is a logo already behind home plate.
CubsFanBudMan
The Cubs have not worn the gray fauxback road alt yet this year. Is it officially gone? EDIT: Never mind. Thomas
Did the Brewers stop using their navy blue alternate jerseys with the M sleeve patch in favor of the new navy blue jersey with the ball in glove logo patch ?

If my saying last year that I was worried the All-Star jerseys this year would all be camo didn't lead to anything, I think we're lucky enough that nobody reads these boards. It's a blessing and a curse. On 5/9/2016 at 6:38 PM, Gothamite said: My Gods, I do miss George Steinbrenner sometimes. We've been fortunate enough to avoid the stupid side-panels. How much of a choice do the teams have in these league-wide uniform celebrations? I know plenty of people opted out of TATC, but do teams have as much power in this issue nowadays? You could say that The Boss would fight continuously and maybe stubbornly put his team out in their usual uniforms anyway, but it seems like this is a league-wide mandate and resistance is futile. This is why despite them being a corruption of the usual set, I just shrug it off and usually forget it exists at all. It looks a bit complex for a patch, though (although since it's a straight white uniform I suppose it could have a white backing that's sewed on the sleeve. I hope they don't wuss out and go with a simpler block or roundel patch.

SilverBullet1929
I watched the Brewers and the Marlins last weekend for three games and Milwaukee literally had a different color scheme for each game. Royal & Yellow, then Navy & Gold, then to Navy & Yellow. It was maddening to see in the span of just three days how unorganized their uniforms are. Silent Wind of Doom
Huh. Just had a realization. I'm not too hung up on how jumbled and messed up the Padres and Brewers look this year because I'm hopeful that it's a step in the right direction, that hopefully they'll be in a better place next year, finally making the full change. Dear lord, this is the uniform version of a rebuilding season, isn't it? They'll look ugly for a season in the hopes of coming out on top. Of course, it's stupid and the team could easily just change to a good look, but it's better than the fire sale the Diamondbacks and (funnily enough) Marlins pulled. Yeah, until the Padres announce that they're going to retain Navy while firing Yellow, only to sign Red to a ridiculous, multi-year contract with a no trade clause. Yeah, until the Padres announce that they're going to retain Navy while firing Yellow, only to sign Red to a ridiculous, multi-year contract with a no trade clause. Then you'll have all the radio talk show callers and twitter accounts chiming in with variations of the "BRING BACK DAH BROWN," all the while ignoring that the Padres never got that great of a handle on brown. It's unpleasant for all, and the Padres identity crisis continues, trying to appeal to everybody while appealing to nobody. One interesting thing I've noticed with the whole brown vs. navy debate is how it is kinda generational. Allow this post to explain: On 7/29/2015 at 10:54 AM, bosrs1 said: On 7/29/2015 at 8:45 AM, hawk36 said: I think you'd find that a majority of Padre fans in their 40's and older have a strong attachment to the brown. Sure they were horrible for years in the 70's but became good for the first time in the early 80's and went to the World Series in 84 with the brown. The first time is always the most special. Those like me that were there and remember 1984, I believe, have a very fond attachment to the brown. [Image of 1984 Padres in World Series] That is a fair assessment. Generally among folks I've talked to it does seem to be the mid-40's to around mid-60's folks who like the brown. The young seem to favor overall the blue and/or camo. And the older folks I've talked to, in their 80's and 90's were glad the brown went away. Which makes sense when you think about it, you like what you grew up around. Old natives grew up with the PCL Padres who settled on navy blue and red pretty early. Folks in their 40's and 50's grew up with brown, younger people grew up with navy blue again. It tracks to me personally. I first watched the Pads on TV wearing navy blue and orange, saw my first Padres game with them in Navy Blue and orange and became a Padres fan with them wearing navy blue. To me brown just isn't the Padres. Talk to my brother in law and you'll get the exact opposite reaction. He want them in brown and/or powder blue and he's a 45 year old SD native. Talk to my grandfather in law before he passed in May at 93 who was also an SD native (he went to school with Ted Williams), and he thought the brown was hideous and was glad it went away. This is why I try to be ambivalent towards both brown and navy, because of how generation-oriented the preference is for each of these Padres color schemes. As long as they have a well-saturated and bright secondary color (yellow, orange, colombia blue, etc.), I'm fine with them using either color as their primary. Yeah, but that's true about literally everything. When I was a kid, the animated shows and even some of the live action I grew up with were dark, deep, and surreal. Then when groups began complaining about our need to shelter children, children's programming turned into brainless bright colors and noises that were designed just to keep children's attention. But nowadays I see people who think those shows were the best thing ever because it's how they saw things when they were children. How many of the people who say the Motre Bame look was best were kids when they looked like that? Or how many people who grew up with the Raysbow, Black Jays, Trident M's, Dodgers Blue Alt, Red/Blue/White Sox, Any Astros Look, Maroon Phillies looks prefer those because that IS that team to them. Now, I'm not saying objectivity is impossible, or that most of people's opinions (especially around here) are only built on nostalgia and first impressions. I'm just saying that such things can color opinions, and in the general public I'm sure opinions on pretty much everything is generational. I wonder how Navy/Metallic vs Royal/Athletic divides by generation when it comes to the Brewers? I mean, similar to the Blue Jays, I can see this not necessarily being the case with the majority of people because the older scheme represents the franchise's one high point. It would be interesting to see how the opinions line up with age. And yes, I know I contradicted myself with the Blue Jays, but I'm sure people who prefer black and graphite exist somewhere.
