dfwabel
As there was a firing during Week 1 of the season, the announcement of the return of UAB football and the high probability that Randy Edsall will be dismissed this weekend, we might as well have this thread for 2015 (and give page hits to Rousell Brothers). If a question mark is near a name, then that coach is rumored or there has been speculation that they will soon leave that position, or be the replacement for someone who has left or could be leaving. Officially announced vacancies are highlighted in red, and officially announced replacements are highlighted in blue. Interim Head Coaches are not listed in this thread, as they may not necessarily be named as the permanent replacements for vacancies. Arrangements where a university may designate a "coach-in-waiting" to take over on a future date when a current coach leaves will also not be listed. If there are any other changes or additions to be made based on what you've been reading or seeing, please post them for addition to Post #1. Dynasty
You might want to include Charlie Strong. Many people are talking about how he's on the hotseat for his team's performance. I personally don't think he will be fired this year (and he shouldn't), but I wouldn't be surprised if 2016 is his last year coaching at the University of Texas. rams80
Sark's gone. Probably anyway-the leave of absence because of alcoholism appears to be complicating the firing. HedleyLamarr
Mark Richt ought to be added to that list. And his replacement should be Memphis's Justin Fuente. No way will Fuente be coaching at Memphis in 2016.

No way will Fuente be coaching at Memphis in 2016.I'll add him, but next week against Florida will be more telling. As for Fuente, know that he is from Tulsa and played at OU, so he may just take raises at Memphis and wait for Stoops to leave. HedleyLamarr
The last three games certainly haven't done Richt any favors.Getting blasted at home to Alabama got the ball rolling on fans questioning if Richt can get the team to that next level. (He can't.) Losing a 21-point lead to a less-talented Tennessee team the next week got even more nay-sayers on-board. Then last week's dud on Homecoming Week against Missouri...a win, but not even scoring a touchdown or getting 10 points...didn't quiet down the masses. A loss against Florida seals Richt's fate, I believe. Win the SEC, he keeps his job. Beat Florida but lose another game before the bowl game (even if it's the SEC Championship), Richt's likely out.Fuente might love to coach at Oklahoma, but he's going to be The Hot Candidate come December. There's a lot of programs that can toss a lot of money his direction. And Oklahoma may not have a vacancy for a while.

And Oklahoma may not have a vacancy for a while. There will be more openings, but currently there really is only one better gig for him in the he Power 5..Southern Cal.South Carolina is a bad job. It is the #2 football school in a low population state and as the flagship state school, is harder to get into than Clemson. The classes which got them the 11 win years: 2009 (Gilmore, Holloman, Alshon Jeffery, DJ Swearinger) 2010 (Lattimore, Ace Sanders, Connor Shaw), 2011 (Clowney) were outliers for them in terms of getting in-state talent and in division, you're hoping to finish 3rd.Maryland is the same job, but with a better recruiting base since both have an indoor facility "on the way".For currently open gigs, Illinois is second best after Southern Cal.
