Eighteen entries made their way to the inbox! Unfortunately, I have to disqualify one entry.

The requirements for this event were:

For this event, you have to design a patch commemorating an event (sporting or non-sporting) that really happened in 2005, 1995, 1990, 1965, 1940, or 1915 (10, 20, 25, 50, 75, or 100 years ago).

  • Include the years in the design.
  • You may use and incorporate existing images or logos, but the overall design must be your own.
List your 3 favorites, ranked 1, 2, 3.

The vote closes on Monday, November 9th, 11:59AM Eastern Time (three days from now).

Voting is now over.

Disqualified Entry

dirtyspacenews's entry didn't mention explicitely the anniversary. The dates on the patch are for a fifteen years anniversary, the length of time the comics were published. The end of the series was in 1995, which is 20 years ago. I believe the intention of the patch was to show that the series has been over for 20 years this year, but the dates don't show that. Since the requirement was to show the year of the event and the current year, effectively showing the anniversary, I have no choice but to disqualify the entry.

Reminder

The voting will be open to public voting once the event is officially over. Once the finalists have been posted in the event thread, voting will be open for 3 days.

Judging is open to all board members registered BEFORE October 1st. This is to ensure no one is voting for themselves under an alternate login.

Members may vote once per event and may not vote for their own entry (I'll know if you did, and will not count your vote). You may not disclose the identity of any of the designers of the entries until voting closes.

Voting will be via the 3-2-1 points method. Voters will be asked to post their choice for a gold, silver and bronze winner. Gold votes are worth 3 points, Silver worth 2, Bronze worth 1.

My top 3:

  1. Entry 13 (so much going on, but all done well)
  2. Entry 4 (just had to reward all this good work)
  3. Entry 11 (probably the classiest entry)

Honorable mentions:

  • Entry 1
  • Entry 6
  • Entry 9 (just missed my top 3)
  • Entry 14
  • Entry 16

And to whoever submitted Entry 10, I hope that everyone forgets about it by next year so I can steal that idea!

Gold: 4 (Great rendering; this is from a great artist. The red line gives it just enough bright color to draw attention to it.)

Silver: 2 (At first I didn't really like this one, but it grew on me. The combination of Denmark's flag and the symbol for female is so simple but would have real staying power.)

Bronze: 9 (Again, it didn't jump out at me, but it looks like it already is a part of their branding.)
