Billiken looks even creepier than older versons, Billikens typeface looks odd, and the half white half grey face makes no sense IMHO. jaha32 Posted November 15, 2015 Share Posted November 15, 2015 It's a massive upgrade to what they had. I like that they kept the distinctive wink, creepy or not. It's nice when schools/teams see that they just because their logo is old and outdated, it doesn't they mean need to change their look entirely, but just modernize it, which St. Louis has done here. My only nitpick is the half and half shading on the face (although I'm sure I'm guilty of having used that technique at least once). It gives the impression that the face is folded from top to bottom, but that's just a personal preference and not a flaw necessarily. Second, there are no chubby cheeks which is also a defining characteristic of a Billiken. If the face was not as smooshed, it would probably be fine. Here's my take tweaking the logo. I'm excited if this means I don't have to continue look at that creepy old logo winking at me any time my dad decides to wear his college gear. That's been exactly my take as well. Part of the whole thing about a Billiken is the playful roundness. I really like where your modifications take this. The font they chose isn't bad on its own, but find something similar that's more rounded, and those would fit nicely together. The old one needed an update, but they missed the mark a bit. The logo looks much better IMO on the shirts than it did on the court. The contrast of the grey and white distracted me while I was watching the game. Fortunately, the get rid of the little space in the L in Billikens on the baseline and its normal text there. DCDuck Posted November 16, 2015 Share Posted November 16, 2015 I don't like how the face fits into that "shield" in their wordmark. It makes him look like he has no neck.The grey shadow bugs me.
