2015 college football postseason (lower divisions)

Alright folks, it's that special time of year for fans of lower division college football. Divisions 2 and 3 are wrapping up their seasons today, and tournament selection is tomorrow. Division 1 FCS tournament selection comes next week (11/22/2015).

I don't follow JuCo or NAIA football, but I'm sure someone amongst us does and could provide further info on their respective postseasons.

Best of luck to all the teams! Let the games (and trash talk) begin!

I can help...

Division II: The field has expanded as now the top 7 in each region are in. The 7 seed plays at the 6 seed next week in the regions, then the winner gets the 3 seed the following week

Division III: Same as before. 32 teams with 25 automatic bids, 6 at-large bids and 1 special bid for conferences that don't have an automatic bid

NAIA: Same as before. 16 team field.

NJCAA: Same as before. Bowl games. One thing to note... if the top two teams in the polls meet in a bowl game, that bowl game is the designated National Championship game. If they don't meet, then the final rankings (released on December 8th) would decide the national champion

Looks like I'll be rooting for Bowie State, Virginia Union and Tuskegee in D2. As well as Johns Hopkins and Salisbury in D3.

Don't follow NAIA so I'll just randomly pick a team to root for in that tournament... *takes time out to scroll back up and choose a NAIA team*.... I'm gonna go with Morningside.

Edit: So I chose Morningside as my NAIA tournament team solely based on the team sharing the same name as one of the towns in my home county in Maryland. Did a little Google search after my intial post and discover that Morningside College is the number 1 ranked team in NAIA. It appears I subconsciously hopped on the bandwagon. Oh well lol. Go Mustangs!

I've grown beyond tired of seeing Mount Union and Wisconsin Whitewater playing in the Stagg Bowl every year. Honestly hope they both get eliminated at some point before the D3 championship. Let's get some new blood in there!

Welp, Bowie State and Virginia Union both lost today, but Tuskegee advanced. Still have one dog left in the D2 fight.

And in D3 Johns Hopkins wins, while Salisbury loses.

I'll check on how Morningside did in NAIA later.

Morningside is down 47-33 to St. Xavier right now. In other NAIA action...

-Baker (KS) crushes Point (GA) 68-21

-Grand View holds off Lindsey Wilson (KY) 16-13

-St. Francis beats Reinhardt 37-26

-Marian returns to form with a 44-7 beating of Campbellsville

-Tabor (KS) holds off Doane 16-14

-Montana Tech thrashes Dickinson State (ND) 44-10

One game left, that's Kansas Wesleyan at defending champion Southern Oregon.

Anybody know what time the FCS tournament selection show is or where I can watch it? No luck finding it online.

The show is tomorrow at 11am on ESPNU. I'll post the link when it's available.

This MEAC champion situation (3 way tie but NC Central is eliminated) will be interesting once the Sagarin ratings are released early Sunday morning. I know that who ever loses the tiebreaker between (#13)NC A&T and (#25)Bethune-Cookman could snatch an at-large bid to the FCS playoffs tomorrow. The tiebreaker winner plays the winner of next week's SWAC Championship Game (Grambling vs Alcorn rematch in Houston) for the Celebration Bowl December 19th. Plus, it'll be shown live on ABC.

Also, I wasn't suprised my BSU Bulldogs took that L against Assumption. Penalties and lack of production hurt them both today and last week in the CIAA championship vs Winston-Salem State. I'm not even going to speak about VA Union's performance. Hope those 'Skegee Golden Tigers win it all!

The SWAC title game is actually on December 5th. Next week is the Bayou Classic between Southern and Grambling.

Anyway, FCS bracket time! 10 auto bids and 14 at-larges... so, let's get this done. First, the national seeds:

1. Jacksonville State

2. Illinois State

3. North Dakota State

4. McNeese State

5. James Madison

6. Portland State

7. Richmond

8. Charleston Southern

1st Round:

-Chattanooga vs. Fordham (Winner gets Jacksonville State)

-Coastal Carolina vs. The Citadel (Winner gets Charleston Southern)

-New Hampshire vs. Colgate (Winner gets James Madison)

-Sam Houston State vs. Southern Utah (Winner gets McNeese State)

-Montana vs. South Dakota State (Winner gets North Dakota State)

-Northern Iowa vs. Eastern Illinois (Winner gets Portland State)

-William and Mary vs. Duquesne (Winner gets Richmond)

-Dayton vs. Western Illinois (Winner gets Illinois State)
