She was Tyson to Holm's Buster Douglas in 1990.

Rhonda was as George Foreman would say was, "bone dry". Holm was a bigger fighter and could stop judo takedowns when Rhonda wanted to do that. Holly can throw blows and caught her with a kick and may have broken her jaw.

Rhonda had the domestic violence issue on her mind too.

She's "White Tyson".

Poor Dana White as he only has one marketable person now...Connor McGregor

I don't even know who Connor McGregor is. Rousey was the only name I recognized aside from John Bones Jones

So I read some random comment about MMA having some BS when it comes to showing replays, and I've yet to see a station show the actual kick in the 2nd round. What's the deal with that?

I guess it has to do something with UFC being on pay per view.

I suppose this cover could use some tinkering...

As said in Goodfellas, "the way I see it - everybody takes a beating sometime."

Rousey looked small compared to Holm. Holm won the fight early with some no-bullcrap shots to Rhonda's head and after that it was just a matter of time. I'm guessing there will be a rematch in a year, BUT....this is totally going to work out for Rousey to do her WWE thing just in time for Wrestlemania.

There's the knockout.

I think Dana White is going to be happy with the money he is going to get when Rousey has her rematch.

Of course it comes down to the mighty green dollar.

UFC and boxing holds off sharing "Thee highlight" in hopes that people who missed it will pull out their wallets for the PPV's immediate re-airng. This has been going on ever since I can remember. I even recall the WWF/E using this tactic, only showing PPV stills on the Monday Night Ray following in hopes of suckering people into buying Tuesday's PPV replay.

I'm sure that's part of it, but it's mostly to encourage people to buy the first showing. I'm sure far fewer people would buy it if they knew they could just watch the best parts of it for free 5 minutes later.

With WWF, I remember them doing that a lot. They were also regularly featured on Entertainment Tonight the night after Wrestlemania (at least starting with WM3) and they'd show the stills there too. Remember back then, ticket sales and PPV were 90% of the revenue stream (they were just getting in to licensing too), so they needed to do whatever it took to get people to feel the need to go to shows or purchase PPVs. Now it's as much about TV deals so they need to balance the PPV / WWEN thing against giving people reasons to tune in to Raw after PPVs.

The show was absolutely a fiasco.

Rousey losing was definitely a can't miss moment, but the show did so much short and long term damage to the brand, and let's be honest, the way UFC goes is the way MMA goes in general.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk had a tepid co-main event win in what was supposed to be a star making showcase for her. This was a title defended on Fight Pass not six months ago.

Holm vs Rousey 2 will do business, but Rowdy Ronda's never going to look like the same rock star again and if Holm wins that, nobody is paying to see Holm vs. Miesha Tate.

If women main eventing cards is a good thing for combat sports, last night was a bad night.

If I were Rousey, I'd just call it a career on MMA. She had a good run, won a title, and became one of its most marketable stars of all time. But she was badly beaten last night, and she risks getting badly beaten again in a rematch. At that point, what's left?

Not too may people have left MMA for second careers. Chuck Lidell and Rampage Jackson tried to, but they had bit parts in ensemble films (like Rousey!) and that's kind of it. Lesnar was a star both before and after MMA. There are others in the MMA bubble, but no one I remember blowing up the same way Rousey did.

Also, it seems like Rousey has been eyeing a way out for a while now -- the movies, the WWE stuff, and so on. Why not just go all the way? The problem with legitimate fighting is you can legitimately lose. There's safety in performance art.

So you can get kicked in the head, knocked to the ground, and then someone can get down and start punching you in the head even more? This makes boxing look honorable.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

That was so satisfying I love it. Rousey got too damn arrogant and cocky she deserved that ass kicking.

So were her fans.

There was an ESPN poll back in Sept; Rousey defeated Serena Williams in a fan vote bracket tournament- declaring her the greatest female athlete of all time.

No way she'll fade into oblivion in anything. She's either going to do WWE for awhile to keep her profile huge, stay in shape, and set up her post-UFC career by dabbling in the squared circle.

Inevitably she'll have a rematch this summer or in a year or two with Holm and it'll be the last big-money fight of her career. Either way I think her prospects in the WWE are sky-high. She could be the highest profile wrestler on WWE's roster immediately upon signing.
