NBA Football Helmets

So, this is my first concept on the forum and I wanted to do a crossover. Take a look here and you will see there my first attempt at the crossover. Part 1 is giving all of the NBA teams their own helmet.

  • I used all the colors on the teams primary (minus white) somewhere on the helmet
  • No added colors
  • No logos that incorporate a basketball

Favorite's?

Helmets that need work?

Constructive criticism welcome

First of all, welcome to the boards. I always love to see new people on here with new ideas.

My Favorites:

Rockets: I love the use of the HR logo here. Try a red facemask and it would be perfect.

Hornets: Again with the alternate logo. I love it. No changes needed.

Warriors: Do I need to say anything about the logo? Love it.

My Least Favorites:

Celtics: Not really liking the BFBS here along with a gold facemask.

Raptors: The arched wordmark on the helmet is the problem here.

Wizards: Looks pretty bland. I'm not digging the wordmark on the helmet though.

Overall the project is pretty good, and I can't wait to see what your next project is!

Here is version two.

  • Cavaliers logo enlarged
  • Celtics green helmet; gray face mask; gold logo
  • Rockets face mask red
  • Raptors wordmark removed; replaced with gold, altered alternate logo
  • Wizards wordmark removed; replaced with navy, altered alternate logo; red bottom half

These are cool. Have you tried enlarging the logos on a few of them? I think by doing that, they will look more dynamic.

For example, the Cavs logo would look awesome if it was treated like the Buccaneers helmet.

For others, think about something totally different than just applying a teams logo. For example the Miami Heat. What if the helmet was just flames. The team logo (MH) could just be small on the back of the helmet.

On the Wizards helmet, I would angle the red portion downward so that it follows the indentation of the back of the helmet.

Great work overall! But again, my advice would be to try to make them more dynamic. Go outside the box.

The first thing that came to mind was the Raptors helmet. I'm glad you switched to the ball from the wordmark, but I think the logo could be much larger. It might come off as a little more college-like, but it might be interesting to make the helmet look like it is being slashed by the claw.

There's a reason you don't see many word marks on helmets. This is why. It doesn't work. Replace them with actual logos instead of word marks. It's hard to read the Lakers and Pacers. Enlarging Denver's mountain would work.

I'd just like to point out that the logo you used for the Pelicans is a basketball. I think they are one of the teams that has a logo more well-suited for a football helmet, utilize it.

I'd like to see a little more creativity put into this as well. It'd be interesting if done fully. Like, the Hawks could use their uniform pattern in their helmet stripe, similar to what the Seahawks currently do. Timberwolves could use a tree pattern in their helmet stripe, the Rockets could use metallic silver, the Nets could have a sublimated herringbone pattern somewhere, the Warriors could work the bridge into a wraparound design, the possibilities are endless. Have fun with it, don't just recolor a plain helmet and put a logo on it. You're getting there with the Wizards update, keep working.

All are really sick except for these three that need more color.

1: Celtics: Try a white helmet with a green facemask and the green stoner leprechaun primary on it.

2: Wizards: Try a white helmet with the "dc" logo and a red facemask.

3: Hornets: Try a black helmet with the teal hornet alternate on it and a purple facemask.

Just suggestions that I think would improve the overall set. Up to you though.

Favorites: Dallas Cowboys, New York Yankees, New York Rangers, New York Knicks, Cam Newton ND Irish

Least Favorites: New York Giants, New York Mets, Washington Capitals, Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Eagles, OBJ

When the helmets are done, I will do a part that covers striping don't you worry.

And here is update three!

  • Celtics: White helmet, green face mask, new helmet logo
  • Mavericks: New helmet logo
  • Nuggets: New helmet logo
  • Pacers: Replaced wordmark with three gold stripes similar to the logo
  • Lakers: New helmet logo
  • Heat: Enlarged logo
  • Pelicans: New helmet logo
  • Raptors: Logo greatly enlarged
  • Wizards: Red slanted down, top now white
