That's how I read the new kits. That or the city has municipalized the soccer franchise, which would be an interesting revenue generation technique (we do have a city council member who suggested municipalizing Boeing's facilities, so it's not beyond the realm of possibility).

 

I love the local touches, like the city emblem on Seattle's jock tag. MLS seems to specialize in these, and they're wonderful.

I can see that, still I like the look on its own. That's my issue with the new blues, too Vancouver. Wish they'd push the rave green as that's unique in the league.

The new rave kit will grow on me, but I read it as lateral at best. I'm hopeful the white is in the dustbin though; that set was just the worst.

 

At least Settle's civic pride jersey was done more tactfully than Columbus's new jersey. .

I actually prefer the light blue trim, otherwise the Dynamo kit will look too Halloween-y. My only complaint is actually that they didn't do with a full colored crest. The way it is now it kinda gets lost and the sponsor sticks out. Still a nice set tho, love the nearly invisible adidas stripes. I think I'm really liking adidas kits this year because they look like Nike kits.

I love that Dynamo shirt so much. It's a nice way to connect their orange and light blue.

 

Re: Seattle -- I think the city seal is over the top. The S's are a bit much to me too. The blue set is growing on me though.

 

The reason I don't like the white is because since joining the league, the Sounders have been bold with color:

 

 

The white set looks nice in and of itself, but I associate the team with colors; not the absence of them.

I disagree.  I really like the color balance between the orange and the light blue.  Only part I could do without is the back-of-the-collar adornment, which looks horribly out of place.

I absolutely LOVE that new Sounders primary kit. I'm a total sucker for contrasting sleeves, and especially so when they match the shorts and aren't white. I'm going to have to grab me one of those because that's an absolutely fantastic look for the Sounders. 

 

 

The alt, on the other hand? Yuck. SKC and NYCFC already use the double blue. There's zero need to utalize a color scheme that's so similar to other teams. They should've just kept the black and neon green jersey and kept it with the green shorts.

Surprised that last Seattle set is so well loved. I thought neon green shorts with a black shirt was the dorkiest looking kit I'd seen in some time. Always made me think of:

The Rapids just announced that they're releasing the new primary kit at a fan party on March 10.

Personally, I'm hoping for a little more prominence with the pale blue. Always thought it complimented the dark burgundy quite nicely. I could go without the white sleeves too, despite my Arsenal fandom.

Yeah, I like them better as a burgundy and sky blue team than I do burgundy and white.

I'm not opposed to Seattle updating the Rave Green, the contrasting sleeves aren't a bad touch.  I just see the new alternate kit as a downgrade.  The black and white alternates were probably the best the Sounders have had since joining the MLS, and, while I do like the look of the new alternate, I just don't think it fits in well.  Especially when one of our biggest rivals, Vancouver, wears colors extremely close to that.  I think the blue looks great, probably a jersey I'd buy if I had the chance to, it just doesn't feel like it belongs in Seattle at this current moment.

- Rave green sleeves

- Blue body

- Blue shorts

- Blue socks with rave green stripes (like the new 3rd set, more stripes)

When in the world would they have not been able to wear the primary but could wear this? Besides, MLS teams have a tendency just to flip colors around and wear a white shirt in clash kits that gets so boring and tired. I appreciate the creativity and different colors on the clash kits.

So, is it common for MLS teams to release their uniforms after the pre-season starts? Seattle played LA last night in their old set only hours after unveiling their new look, and Colorado played SRFC last week in their I guess now "old" red jerseys, too.

I see a lot of MLS teams wearing training kits during preseason games as well. The last couple years, "Jersey Week" happened after most of the preseason and very close to the first game of the regular season.

Good point but I've long argued that the Sounders could just wear the same uniform all the time anyway. But I know that doesn't sell extra jerseys. I guess I just would have liked them to somehow use the Rave Green instead of the light blue in their 3rd since the blue/blue look is already done a lot in the MLS.

 

Even at that, my suggestions above would allow for a primarily blue kit vs a primarily rave green kit at home.

If FCD has white hoops on that jersey, I think it'll be a winner. Love the incorporation of the blue trim into the collar; something I've longed for with them recently.

When they had the yellow highlighter set, I only recall them ever wearing it for CONCACAF games. I think they mostly saved the black for US Open matches, though I know that wasn't consistent.

 

I don't know what their rationale was for the white set -- they seemed to wear it sometimes, lose, and then try not to wear it again...for a while.
