College Bowl Tournament Bracket Concept

This is a concept I had in mind since the BCS was thankfully replaced by the CFP.

However, I do feel the real CFP should be a 32 team tournament instead of just 4.

Notes:

- Golden Gate Bowl is really the Foster Farm's Bowl (formerly Kraft Fight Hunger)

- Space City Bowl is really the Meineke Bowl in Houston

- Lone Star Bowl is really the Zaxby's Bowl (formerly TicketCity)

- Tangerine Bowl is really the Russell Athletic Bowl

- Carolina Bowl is really the Belk Bowl

C&C Welcome.

Wow! This is really cool! I've tried making college football brackets countless times, but I never liked the outcome. How does the national championship work?

This seems too complicated to work... here's my idea.

First off, the bowls games are pared off from 40 to 20 bowl games. Teams with winning records (7-5 or higher) AND finishing 4th or better in the conference are eligible. This insures that no game doesn't have good teams involved.

Tier 1 is where the Playoff is located. The top 4 conference champions compete in the playoff games, which rotate every year between the six. Yes, the first tier has six games... In years that a game doesn't have a semifinal, the match ups goes as follows...

-Rose Bowl: Big Ten vs. PAC 12

-Sugar Bowl: Big 12 vs. SEC

-Peach Bowl: Mountain West vs. Sun Belt

-Cotton Bowl: Conference USA vs. Mid-American

-Orange Bowl: ACC vs. The American

-Fiesta Bowl: At Large vs. At Large

So, for example... this season would go like this (based on current rankings and standings)

Semifinals

-Cotton Bowl: Alabama (SEC Champion) vs. Oklahoma (Big 12 Champion)

-Orange Bowl: Clemson (ACC Champion) vs. Iowa (Big Ten Champion)

New Year's Games

-Rose Bowl: Stanford (Pac-12 Champion) vs. San Diego State (Mountain West Champion)

-Sugar Bowl: Florida (Replacement for SEC Champion) vs. Baylor (Replacement for Big 12 Champion)

-Peach Bowl: Western Kentucky (Conference USA Champion) vs. Arkansas State (Sun Belt Champion)

-Fiesta Bowl: Bowling Green (Mid-American Champion) vs. Houston (The American Champion)

This isn't like the other sports where they can play every other day. This would take a very long time.

I got no problem with a long playoff, but I would rather to keep it as a 16-teams playoff which takes only 4 weeks while the other teams who missed the playoff get to play in small bowl games so meaning:

10 Conference Champions and 6 At-Large Teams to play in the playoffs

ACC Clemson

American Houston

Big 12 Oklahoma

Big Ten Iowa

C-USA Western Kentucky

MAC Bowling Green

MWC San Deigo State

PAC 12 Stanford

SEC Florida

Sun Belt Arkansas State

6 At-Larges

Alabama

Ohio State

Notre Dame

TCU/Baylor

North Carolina

Michigan State

That would be more fun in the second rounds and Semifinals with every best team competing for the National Championship with bragging rights

(Note to Florida State Fans - Please don't beat me up for not including FSU in the playoff picture, ok? Just an example, guys)

FEAR THE FROG! LET'S GO TCU!!

8 teams at max, that way you have just enough teams to truly see who's the best without having much controversy like a 4 team playoff. Also I think that if there were to be a larger playoff then there can't be Conference Championships in order to save a week for the first round of the playoff.

I've always said that CFP should be a bracket of all the conference winners against each other

Nah I think it should be top 8-16 cuz a Sun Belt champ is bound to play a Power 5 champion every year which is an easy win for the Power 5 champ (most likely) that plays them
