I thought the sublimated pattern on the black Kings jersey was chainmail, but either way, that's my favorite uniform in the whole set. As for the 2nd purple jersey, I assume that falls under the "stretch" provision, similar to the Cavs' wine colored uni with the recolored 80s logo or the teams who celebrate the Chinese new year?

Overall, I still like the Bibby/Webber/Peja set the most, but this is Sacramento's best effort since.

This is probably my favorite set of the purple/black era.  Throw out the stupid SAC alt and it's pretty solid.

Obvious criticism is the number font (6 or b?) and the awkward crown logo, but I won't hold that one against the uniform.

The issue is that while it looks nice, I never found any of the purple/black era uniforms to be "inspiring" (for lack of a better term.)  Don't ask me to define what "inspiring" is - it's one of those things that you know it when you see it.  And this ain't it.  It looks nice.  I'm sure that the fan gear is going to look really nice.  I just think that a professional sports franchise should be going for something more than nice.

In a way, I think that's what the past 20 years or so of sports design has become - teams moving to nice looks that look good on the street, but don't use bold colors or strong/classicly styled scripts or any of that.  It seems to me that the design process here may have been backwards - i.e. it started with t-shirts and other fan merch, then worked backwards in to the uniforms, rather than the other way around.

That seems like harsh criticism for something that I like overall, but it's more an indictment of the era of design in which we're in rather than of this specific set.

We haven't seen the backs yet. But judging by the way these were put together giving lots of hommages to past history, there's a possibility at least one the new jerseys will have the nameplate underneath the back numbers. We'll see, once more pictures are uploaded...

I've seen all of the new uniforms in person and the names are above the numbers.

I saw the entire set up close and personal this afternoon outside the team store.  I don't love them and I don't hate them.  To me they're just meh.  I get the feeling that with this design the Kings were trying to be as inoffensive as they could and it shows.

I do like the striping pattern.  That's about where it ends.  They should have ditched the number font they've been using and made the "n" in Kings a capital letter.  I'd have used the "lion ball" logo on the shorts in place of the one they are using.  While I'm not a fan of the "Sac" logo or jersey especially because of how easy it will be to make fun of the team it's popular.  Most of the hats I've seen people wearing around town are the ones with the "Sac" logo and according to the guys in the team store they're selling a lot of the t-shirts with the "Sac" logo too.

I'm also not a fan of the gold "championship band" on the back of the collar that celebrates the 1951 Rochester Royals which was what two or three cities ago, and the three baby blue stripes weren't visible on the jersey at all.

I actually like the new Kings set, "SAC" notwithstanding (I'd like to see "Sacramento" somewhere).  Do all new uniforms have "proud tabs" now?  Bucks had "Fear the Deer."  Not sure off-hand about the Hawks or other new reveals.

The King's set is pretty solid. They didn't go overkill on the script and the side panels look pretty sharp (they almost look identical to the Heat's). The number font (or just the number 6) looks a little weird because for a second, I thought the number 16 said lb as in a "pound". I think it's kinda dumb that they have two identical, purple uniforms with just different script wordings. I also have no care for the black uniform. But overall, the positives definitely outweigh the negatives.

I think the black is the best just because these uniforms are, for the lack of a better term, boring. The striping is uninspired, and the team name and numbers are pretty minimal. I would've been a fan of a half black-half purple set like they had in the 90s, or if the set was based on the black alternate. Overall I'd give these a C, just on the premise of them being boring. It's by no means a bad set.

The set is too 2000's with those side panels that kill it to me, and looks too much like the Suns' previous set. What I hate the most is the thick white striping. I expected them going with minimal side panels á la Wizards or Raptors, giving it a modern and a sharp look along with the modern font. Also, hate the way the logo is squeezed in on the shorts between the striping. On the other side, the black uni is lackluster and needs striping alongside the gray panels. The SAC alternate looks best of the bunch with the contrasting wordmark and number. In the end, the set is not much different from the 03-08 one to warrant a change. Swing and a miss for the Kings.

Really like the Kings new jerseys. Even the black alt. The Purple SAC jersey is pointless and unnecessary though.

Gonna elaborate on this a bit more:

I wish they kept the old font/wordmark. The 6 looks like a b. And the new wordmark is boring.  The sublimation on the black alt gives off a chainmail vibe and works so much better than the Hawks stupid triangles. SAC jersey is still dumb and pointless.

This is still my favorite kings jersey though.

I was actually pleasantly surprised when I saw the final designs.  I like the black alt a lot.  It fits the franchise.

I didn't mind that set, but I had a big problem with the wordmark they used, because it was literally the exact same mark the Sacramento Monarchs of the WNBA used. In fact, I think the Monarchs actually used that mark a year before the Kings did. That really wasn't a good look for a team who had been trashed on just a year or two prior by Shaq who called them the "Sacramento Queens" and said they were "The best WNBA team he ever faced."
