I dislike these new Wiz alts.

I feel that if it would look good to me, they have to tone down on the red. Blue seems to be the more dominant color and red should complement it, not clash with it. Eliminate the red from the collar, make the city name blue (with the ball being red) and then in my opinion, you have something that's a little better.

Go A's!

we also know for a fact that the teal Pistons unis aren't going to be worn this season as a throwback:

i'd say it's just a fun add-in from the 2K folks. as a Pistons fan, I'd love to see 'em throw back to those unis (i own a GHill uni myself).

Have they inserted other throwback courts that aren't included for classic teams?  If you're wearing throwbacks (and not as a classic team), is that throwback court part of the package?  #randomrhetoricalquestions

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

I know I'll never get an answer to this, but I really want to know why the Bullets player in the background is wearing a blank road uniform.

Actually, I think that's a Spurs player. They either lost his uniform set in transit or it got stolen and that was the best alternative they could come up with.

Was digging through the menus of the nba 2k17 prelude and found this, looks like we may be seeing this court in the nba again.

Those are just random alternate floors for your MyCourt. There's a few real alternate floors in there like the Retro Kings and Bucks but that's it. Everything else is just custom made stuff like Lakers paint area being yellow or the old 90's MH alternate logo for the Heat being at center court.

You would think, but it's been confirmed that there aren't any new classic teams when the full game comes out and only piston teams in the game are the 89 and 04 teams.

The '03-04 Pistons used the flaming horse logo, just in blue and red. Obviously this is the teal-and-maroon version but as a pedant I felt the need to point that out anyway.

Yeah I just figured that out, I noticed that a few of the alt courts look a lot better than the real ones like the wolves, pacers, hawks and wizards.

I might agree with you if we are analyzing these jerseys "in a vacuum," but keep in mind that these are supposed to be alternates, and are therefore supposed to be a little different.

I think that designing a good white alternate jersey can be a challenge, because it's easy to accidentally make it look to much like the primary, in which case it's kind of like, why even have an alternate jersey if it looks so much like the primary.

They shouldn't make the city name blue, because then it just looks too much like the home primary.  They obviously wanted to experiment a little bit, which I think is practically one of the points of an alternate jersey - to try out some design aspects that probably shouldn't be done on a primary, but works for a jersey whose sole purpose is to spice things up a little bit (and, of course, to sell more jerseys, but I think we are just talking about design for now).

I kinda liked them too, actually.  I would've loved them, but for the satin finish on the jerseys.  I still own a pair of the shorts from that set.

Because of their gaudiness, I always felt that the Wizards looked really good while winning in the gold alts, and really bad while losing in them.  For example, in the December 2006 game @ LAL when Gilbert Arenas scored 60 points in an OT win, those jerseys looked magical.  But then they would do something stupid like lose by 40 points at MIN or something while wearing them, and they would seem like hideous jerseys.

Overall, I was a big fan of the gold jerseys.  I felt like they came out at a time when NBA design was getting stale.  Keep in mind that they came out in the mid-2000s, which was before teams started going "modern retro."  The mid-2000's was a dark age in terms of innovative NBA design (or at least a "boring" age - it was when teams starting basically doing the extreme opposite of fun 90s designs, up to and including the courts themselves), and so I thought those gold alts were a great way to shake things up and try something different.  I also applaud the Wizards for truly keeping them as "alternates" and only wearing them about 10 times a year (tops).  Those are the kinds of jerseys that would get real ugly real fast if they wore them too often, but they wore them just often enough to keep things interesting.  I will conclude my thoughts on the gold alts by saying that I am proud of them for going with somewhat of a zany look than taking the easy route of simply doing a black recolor of their existing road jersey, which would have been very easy for them to do.  Alternate jerseys should be about trying something different.  Leave boring, safe jerseys for the primaries, which will be (or at least should be) worn most of the time, anyway.

Then perhaps maybe make red more dominant. I know alts are supposed to be different but still as a uniform as a whole, it seems like it could have been better.
