2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs Uniforms

Now that Washington has clinched the first playoff berth, I want to start a speculation about who will wear what in the playoffs. I see the Caps in their thirds and the Sharks back in teal as they announced year before last. I asked this topic in a prior thread, but I think it's appropriate to have its own thread.

I can also see the Caps in their thirds, but honestly I hope it doesn't happen. I know that those thirds are beautiful, but I honestly like the regular home just as much.

Given their recent history of using thirds in the playoffs, I'm willing to bet money on the Ducks doing that this year. They like to push those things and get them as much exposure as they can, and with the #PaintitOrange thing it makes more sense than ever this time around.

If they don't, I will eat my hat.

Teams I could see wearing alternates... Minnesota (almost definitely), San Jose, Anaheim, Washington, Pittsburgh. I could even see the Islanders wearing theirs once especially if they play the Rangers. Or does NHL still have the rule where you can only use 2 jerseys for the entire post season?

San Jose had better not wear their "Black Armour" trash again.  If they do, I hope they meet the same fate as they did in 2014.

If any upside came from their epic playoff collapse, it's that it put the "Black Armour" fad to an end and they'll finally be wearing teal like they should.

I'm still not putting any faith in the Sharks wearing anything but those black jerseys until I see an opening faceoff in the playoffs with them in teal. They're a good alt, but the fact they make them the primary in the playoffs has always been the worst.

Honest to goodness, as much as I love them, I really hope they DON'T wear them for the playoffs. They are just such a huge departure from the regulars.  A much larger departure than the previous third (which is now the home jersey) and the old road jersey a la 2014.

My opinion may or may not be the same as yours. The choice is up to you.

You'd think the Sharks would've have ditched the whole black-out gimmick after the Kings reverse swept them in 2014. But nope. Looking cool and tough > winning.

Last season, they basically announced in September that when they made the playoffs, they would wear teal... then they missed the playoffs. That's why they haven't had the chance to officially ditch the black yet.

Even during their collapse against the Kings, they stuck with the black -- this includes Game 7. That pretty much says it all.

You can only wear one home uniform during a playoffs. If they pick black, they're stuck with black through thick and thin.

How long has that rule been in place?  I'm asking because I remember the Canucks in 2007 started out wearing the original Orca uniforms against the Dallas Stars before switching to the vintage Stick In Rink jersey for game 7 and continued to wear them in the next round against Anaheim.

The Sharks should bust out the throwbacks for the two playoff home losses they'll have.

Maybe '08-'09 then.  There were no alts during the Edge introduction year in '07-'08.
