I said it a couple of months back, but Juliette Littman is the key to any podcast under any Simmons brand. If I know she is on a podcast, it is easily worth the download. Hopefully he's back to call Stars games with Daryl Reaugh sooner than later. Razor's work is so polished as a color guy that I don't see him being all that great over all when it comes to doing the nuts-and-bolts PbP. Ludwig's never struck me as anything special during the intermissions, either. The_Admiral Posted September 22, 2016 Share Posted September 22, 2016 That would make Razor the only former NHLer on play-by-play now that the Panthers demoted Randy Moller to bench reporter. He could probably get away with it on the TV side where the picture can tell the story, but I believe Dallas is still simulcasting. Reaugh is obviously good at what he does, but there became this unbearable feedback loop regarding the "Ralph and Razor" team where everyone said they were the best because everyone said they were the best. I think part of it was low expectations for Dallas, which I'm guilty of myself when I say that Steve Goldstein is surprisingly good on the call for Florida while I wouldn't be so effusive were he working in Jersey. As best I can tell, Reaugh plumbs the same gregarious nature and colorful verbiage (one might say marketing-dept.-encouraged catchphrases) as Eddie Olczyk, so I've never understood how people can like the former but hate the latter. Definitely a good broadcasting team, but they didn't invent hockey. 2001mark Posted October 11, 2016 Share Posted October 11, 2016 I've rather enjoyed Ernie Johnson doing play by play for TBS this post-season. His is a quieter yet entertaining voice all the same. Not always the sharpest baseball eye, yet it's his lack of hijacking the game with boastful announcing which makes that tolerable.
