2016 NHL Playoffs, Rite of Spring: "You thought God was an architect"

Ugh. Gag me.

Go East.

Also, fun fact: Now with the Sharks, that makes 15 different teams to make the Final since the 04-05 Lockout. Literally half of the league has made the Final since then. So, tell all your Leafs and Habs friends about that.

Hey, the Blues are still a hell of a franchise. An underrated logo, some talented players and a suffering fanbase. I sincerely hope they and the Preds start taking back the Central.

I've often felt the same way about the Sharks. I actually LIKE the team. That's what simultaneously makes this easy yet difficult to accept. If I hated the team, at least I could vent my frustrations. As it stands, the Blues got outplayed by a better team. Go Sharks. If they end up playing the Pens, I'd love to see Crosby get laid out by Burns or Big Joe Thorton.

This is amazing.

Ive admittedly been about as garbage of a Sharks fan as I could possibly be over the last two years. Straight gave up in frustration on them. But I don't care. This is so :censored:ing sweet.

Congrats to the faithful ones here. A HUGE shout out to Puckguy and the late (board name wise) Iron Chef Shark. Those two basically got me into this team, and they deserve to enjoy this moment more than any two Sharks fans I know.

As a San Jose Sharks fan since their entrance into the league this is awesome.  A team from my hometown has made it to the Stanley Cup Final for the time in franchise history.  I was going to have a longer speech and say profound words, but to be honest I can’t really think at the moment, so I’ll say Woohoo!:D

It's bitter sweet for sure, but I'll be rooting for the Sharks to get their first cup. Pavelski is sick nasty, Burns and Ward are lights out. Big Joe and Marleau have been through alot in the league and I would be happy to see them win a cup before retiring. Please keep the Cup in the west. Good luck Sharks fans

It's another painful end of the cup run for a Blues fan but I'm used to it. I know the Blues will be there for me next year, just not sure what the roster and management will look like. Either way, I'll still be there to take an emotional roller coaster with them. Just one cup before I die please...

lol

The Perds never had the Central in the first place, how do they take it back?

The Blues are a garbage franchise that teeters on bankruptcy in its best years and temporarily folds rather than fly to a draft in its worst. They had Brett Hull once, which was cool. David Backes is no Brett Hull.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Not quite, you seem to be picking your argument in small sample size. Before the lock out they were in the playoffs for 25 straight years, not exactly a "garbage franchise". Yes, they have yet to win the cup but no need to throw them under the bus. They are contenders almost every year that push teams to the best.

The Blues have had ownership issues in the past but they have prevailed and continued to compete. This franchise has had some true greats of the game in the note, unfortunately things never worked out. Having "Brett Hull Once" sounds like you compare him to the Gretzky experience. Brett is still a figure in the Blues community and was only forced out by relationship with Mike Keenan and the Blues desire to rebuild for the future/Brett's desire to chase a cup. I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish here other than seeming, well, not up to par.

What's the line McCarthy says about sports...."I hate sports"?

The fan that's gotten to experience this decade:

-Three World Series titles

-An NBA championship and a Western Conference finalist

-A Super Bowl appearance

-Three NFC Championship Game appearances

...hops onto the local hockey team's bandwagon once they advance past the first round and now gets to see them in the Stanley Cup Final.

So lame.  This Atlanta-area sports fan stays dedicated to his teams and gets rewarded with mediocrity year-in, year-out.  Bo-o-o-o-o-o-o-ogus.

Congrats, Bay Area sports fans.  You've entered the same hated territory Boston sports fans are in.

Before 2010, I had seen a Bay Area team in the finals exactly once (2002, and it was a loss) in my sports watching life (I was JUST too young to remember the Niners last Super Bowl win. The following year was the first Super Bowl I remember).

Since then, in a span of six years, I've seen Bay Area teams appear in the championship SIX times (with four wins so far, Sharks may make it 5), and the Warriors could still come back and make it seven.

Thats absolute madness.

I'd say go ahead and hate. We've "earned" that target. Hopefully Bay Area fans have been at least a tiny bit less insufferable than Boston fans...

They'll wear the caps, pop the bubbly and hang the banners but won't touch the trophy.

Yea, I still don't get it.

It irks me to no end and I always feel compelled to remind people that it's not the old tradition like they think it is. Before Lindros started it in 1997 every team gave the conference trophy some love, if not fully parading it around the ice like it was the Stanley Cup itself. Even as recently as 2009 Crosby picked up the trophy and the Penguins won the finals.

And if you're going to take a full team photo around the trophy* then you might as well touch the thing.

But I'm very excited for the Sharks and I'll be pulling for them harder than I've pulled for any single team since the 2001 Avalanche.

WHICH MEANS the Penguins will win the cup in 4 overtime games.

Bay Area fans don't have a Dan Shaughnessy-esque figure writing about their teams. I'd say that alone makes us less insufferable than Boston fans.
