Your owner Bill Foley has said he wants the franchise to be considered the ‘Rocky Mountain Golden Knights’ when it comes to building a regional broadcast footprint. What’s the thinking there?

If you look at the geography around the state of Nevada, first and foremost you’ve got the entire state of Nevada and Las Vegas is the most significant city, in terms of population, in the state. You’ve got that element. As you look at owning the state of Nevada, that’s the first priority. The second is, as you look at other markets, Utah - specifically Salt Lake City - which is in our market territory. But then as you start to look north you've got Wyoming, Idaho and Montana, which are significant areas in terms of geography that right now don’t have great connectivity to one particular NHL brand.

Because they're not near anything and no one lives there. But sure, pounce on Wyoming, I bet they can't wait to pay carriage fees for a regional sports network for a crappy hockey team 700 miles away.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

And just fly by DENVER, 100 miles south.

Two good videos I came across a while ago. These guys are struggling to play hockey in climates that can't sustain it, and look up to the NHL. Both are good watches.

lets not forget this:

so long and thanks for all the fish.

Just for the record, I wish nothing but the worst for this ugly, meaningless,  desert hockey team.

Any Canadian city deserves a team over this nonsense.

Don't forget us folks down here in Atlanta!

(I know, I know, we blew it twice before already. I was kidding.)

Totally agreed. The reason the NHL didn't give it to Quebec is because they weren't sure of the financial stability of the Canadian money. Like we're doing better here in the States....

"The Rocky Mountian Golden Knights" is probably the dumbest sports-related statement I've ever heard. You couldn't even make the case that the Sierra Nevadas are part of Vegas' "Territory", and they run through the same :censored:ing state, let alone the Rockies.

At this point, I'd take a thousand Phoenix, Arizona Coyotes franchises over this one stupid ass Vegas team.

They'll probably wind up on Root Sports Utah and have to rename it to reflect being split between a Las Vegas team and a Salt Lake City team. The Whalers would have had a better TV territory.

I cant really think of a regional moniker for Utah and Nevada, so maybe Root Sports Utah-Nevada is the only option?

Off-topic side note:  I am a big fan of old-time radio; and I don't care a lick about Broadway musicals.  So I have to force myself to remember that Meredith Wilson is best known as the writer and composer of the play The Music Man, because for me he is the musical director on the Burns and Allen radio show.

I wish I could share your sentiment, but I sincerely believe that this franchise won't offer any benefit to the league and will become another Coyotes mess.  The least they could have done was come up with a nice name and identity but they couldn't even pull that off.  Personally, at least I enjoyed the Coyotes identity (before the re-brand) and would sometimes play as them in video games to see their logo and jerseys but this Vegas team gives me nothing to care about.

I know I'm not the only person here who would prefer this returning over whatever that amounts to
