Amazing final minutes in the Zenit-Anderlecht match. Zenit lost in Brussels 2-0, they were winning 3-0 but, 2 mins left, Anderlecht scored the definitive 3-1.

Europa League could get interesting this year. There are no Iberian clubs left, except Celta Vigo. I hate Iberian clubs in the Europa League, because they seemed unbeatable over the last few years.

I'm a simple person, I have a pixelated David Beckham as profile photo since 2010.

Incredibly knee jerk from them imo.  There was no reason to do this so early - they were doing poorly yes, but he just won you the league.  He certainly can save you from relegation.

Side note: now we're all seeing how important Kante was to that team last year.  Not the same w/o him.

The team stopped listening to him. He had to go.

While their Champions League performance has been good for the budget, the additional games and travel has put much on those players. The summer tour took them not just to the USA, but also to the owner's home of  Thailand to show off the champs.

Tired legs...part 1.

That away goal at Seville could advance them to the final 8, but those added games hurt the opportunity to stay in the PL.

Last season, Leicester wasn't in Europe and was out quickly in the FA and League Cups.

Tired legs...part 2.

U.S. Travel Restrictions Would Damage 2026 World Cup Bid, UEFA President Says

NYON, Switzerland — The United States’ hopes of hosting the World Cup in 2026 will be damaged, perhaps critically, if President Trump’s travel restrictions come into full force, Europe’s top soccer official said...

"It will be part of the evaluation, and I am sure it will not help the United States to get the World Cup,” Mr. Ceferin said. “If players cannot come because of political decisions, or populist decisions, then the World Cup cannot be played there. It is true for the United States, but also for all the other countries that would like to organize a World Cup.

"It is the same for the fans, and the journalists, of course. It is the World Cup. They should be able to attend the event, whatever their nationality is. But let’s hope that it does not happen.”

I know this is veering into sports/politics, so mods please feel free to cut if you'd like.

I just think we should all take a moment to reflect on where we were when the US has moral authority to UEFA.

FIFA (and by proxy, UEFA) is renowned for intervening when governments interfere with the running of Football Associations. It's a strict policy that they have. If any sort of travel ban was to prevent players competing then that could certainly fall under that policy.

Also worth noting that FIFA (and again UEFA) try to separate nations with any kind of conflict so they don't face each other in competition. Examples have included Russia and Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan and also strangely Spain and Gibraltar. So, the UEFA president can try to take the moral high ground on this all he likes but the policies that they implement aren't always consistent or fair either.

I feel like it's UEFA's attempt to push the 2026 World Cup back to Asia or to themselves if they get rid of the rules of two cycles between confederations.  Them asking for 16 slots and each slot gets put in a separate group is ridiculous. Give them 16, but the group rules they want are baloney.

5. Arsenal - This is the breaking point for the Gunners.  Xhaka will be good but Arsenal simply don't have the firepower up front (or the talent in general, for that matter) to compete with the top 4.  With the Gunners out of the Champions League for the first time since the Stone Age, Wenger will be sacked.  Alexis will follow him out the door, and possibly Ozil too.

Goodness, what a collapse. PSG should be absolutely ashamed.

REPORT: Arsenal sent scouts to watch Barca-PSG tonight, were reportedly "very impressed" with Unai Emery, with one executive even saying he "could fit us perfectly."

EDIT: Also in case we didn't know already this Pulisic kid is pretty darn good.

Given the FA Cup semifinal matchups, it has now become a significant possibility that Arsene Wenger's final match as Gunners manager will be in the FA Cup final - against Spurs. How bonkers would that be?

Supporters who want Wenger out as he's 'killing their club' might get their wish as he lifts his third major trophy in four seasons.

Perhaps they should have a chat with their counterparts at Blackpool, Coventry, Charlton or Leyton Orient, to name but a few?
