CFL Alternate Universe - 1998 Offseason

Recommended Posts

Well guys, I have decided to do an alternate universe on the CFL. Well, you know how from 1993-1995 when the CFL had American teams? Well, in this alternate universe, we keep the American teams and see what happens. CFL in Atlantic Canada? Miami Manatees? Virginia Pirates? HARTFORD? All those questions will be answered in this AU. We will start with the 1996 season.

Will the Canadian dollar play a factor in this series?

Also, will Sacramento and Las Vegas regain franchises, and what about Portland, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City or Virginia Beach?

Not sure about the Canadian Dollar, as most of the Canadian franchises have survived for a long time in the CFL, Sacramento and LV could be candidates for expansion, plus all the other ones you mentioned. As for Virginia Beach, I don't think so, as I moved the Pirates to Norfolk in the very first season of this AU.

Eventually, will the name change from CFL to something more appropriate?

Probably not, since it is a Canadian Football league, with Canadian Football rules. But the CFL's 2003 rebrand is definitely changing.

No Baltimore?

Nope. Baltimore moved to Montreal in 1996 seeing as the Ravens are already playing there, both in this alternate universe and in real life.

Pretty good, but I would have Orange on White at home, or maybe a lighter color scheme to beat the Florida heat.

I will work on that, I'm kinda focused on the ABL right now but I will get the rest of the playoffs up.

The only problem with this is that the CFL's plan was they were gonna keep only Baltimore and San Antonio (Sacramento was scheduled to move) in 1996. Placing them both in the East Division. This going to happen if the Browns didn't move to Baltimore to become the Ravens.

This was a very short-lived topic, but I'm just letting you guys know that IT'S BACK BABY! (I'm putting the ABL on a month-or-two long hiatus so I could get some other things on this board done)

Offseason News

The Ottawa Rough Riders, after finishing dead last in the North Division this season, had intended on ceasing their operations. However, a group of Connecticut-based investors bought the Riders and moved them to Hartford, CT to become the Connecticut Whalers, named after the city's bygone hockey team.

Cool topic but shouldn't it be in sports fan fiction section of the boards?

I was wondering how to move this topic...
