It's odd Stance doesn't have this basic style for the Giants (even if they added a logo onto it)

They might. The team-specific socks for the Giants haven't been released yet (not sure why) so we could very well be seeing something along those lines shortly. Plus I'm pretty sure each team will have two team-specific designs so there are still plenty of sock options that have yet to be seen.

Since when do the Brewers show their initials as MKE????

MKE is the airport code...I've seen it before, but rare, since MIL isn't easily confused with anything.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

Every team does have their own design with their logo, it's just up to them whether or not to use them. There are other options available, whether it's the solid-colored socks or the socks with the more generic designs and striping patterns, and it's up to each team, or even each individual, which socks to wear.

Oh okay. Thank you for the clarification.

Yeah but the purpose of football helmets and goalie masks (head/face protection) still exists today. The purpose of stirrups (to block colored dyes from the outer sock) no longer exists. The aesthetic purposes of the stirrups (showing team colors, keeping pant legs high, and looking like a traditional baseball uniform) are still there with the high socks. Granted you're saying your personal preference and that's great too but I don't see why a solid colored high sock can't replace a stirrup.

A single sock having the white arches of the stirrup would be just fine for me.  While there is definitely something missing without that arch, a solid sock is something I can accept ahead of showing no sock.

So these new socks are are a mixed bag.  They're good in that they promote going away from the worst of all conditions, which is pants down to the shoes.  But they have the bad effects of contributing to the further pushing aside of stirrups and of featuring far too much striping.  Also, they induce players to wear their pants too high, just under the knee (though that's better than all the way down to the shoes).

The main point is that the pattern of stirrups, with a little white between the sock colour and the shoe, has been the norm in baseball uniforms for almost a century.

From the Rockies twitter...

I noticed in their game today in Milwaukee that Arenado was wearing what looked to be high socks with a very low two stripe on them, but turns out they are tights with crew socks over them. Nothing like I've ever seen.

Y'all know this is just my opinion, right?

Khris Davis did that during the second half of last season, although he wore the crew socks over regular high socks instead of tights.

The Rockies are another team whose team-specific socks have yet to be released so perhaps that's a temporary solution on the part of Arenado? Seems bizarre but it's the only explanation I can think of.

That style with just two orange stripes in that same thickness would be amazing for the Giants because of one subtle thing that I think most don't think about... It would match the piping on both the pants and the sleeves with the orange black orange combination. The socks would match the uniform more cohesively and would look great. Makes me think about other sock styles that would match uniform elements for other teams as well.

As much as I wanna hate that look it's not much worse than some of these weirder stance designs anyways.

Despite my banging on about stirrups, I like this look.

I could raise the quibble that the pant legs are cuffed too high; but in this case the stripes at the top of the sock make that OK.  With a solid-colour sock (stirrup or not), that height of cuffing would not look good.

The Phillies/Reds game helps me to appreciate how the Cardinals wear their dark blue hat on the road when they play other red teams and makes me think that all teams should be required to have secondary hats for such occasions.

Playing the Reds in Cinci is the only rationale I've seen people use for the Cards wearing navy caps. Too me it always just looked odd them. Red caps look tons better:

Did he wear those shoes in the game too? I saw a bunch of players wearing lebron soldier 10s opening day and wondering if wearing basketball shoes is the new trend in baseball.

Some more of the team-specific socks have been officially released:

We've now seen two different pairs for each of the teams represented here, which seems to definitely suggest that all of the other teams in the league will have the same. The second designs for the Rays, Cubs, Reds, Tigers, Nats, and Indians are all very similar to the first designs, whether it's a simple color swap of the base, striping pattern, or logo, or the socks feature a different one of the club's logos.

No chance of seeing some socks with Wahoo on them, huh?
