MLB Changes 2017

That 08 one represents such an aesthetic shift that they've evolved onward from since. Wild how that 07 to 08 change signals that aesthetic shift in culture (though MLB was maybe a year behind).

Yeah m not seeing what people like about that new World Series logo at all. Those bevels are absolutely atrocious.

On a different note, I'm finding Twins in red vs Red Sox in navy to be the most confusing and counter intuitive (for me) all-color alt matchup to date.

Didn't help that the score bug showed the teams in the opposite colors from what they were wearing.

Eight.

I might be biased, though.

Actually, looking back, I'm not as down on post-08 logos as everybody else is.  In fact, I find that era to be a lot more timeless looking than the forced modern-ness and sans serif rounded squareness of 04-07.

I just saw highlights of that this morning. It was one of those matchups that just looked wrong. Then again, I'm not the biggest fan of alt vs. alt matchups in general anyways unless they're throwbacks.

I don't think the 2017 World Series logo is great, but at least they are different year to year and I can appreciate that. The Super Bowl, NBA Playoffs, Stanley Cup Playoffs feel recycled year after year. I'll gladly take a bad logo over the same logo with a year or Roman numeral adjustment.

Yeah, love the 2009 logo too. Those two colors just scream "fall classic" to me.

Two. :P 08 and 09 have sure been nice, but nothing beats this one for me:

Its bizzare because it was bookended by two horribly bland World Series logos.

I would call the 2014 and 2016 World Series logos the best of the recent period.

They are simple and dignified, which are good traits for a World Series logo to have.

The signature event should have its own consistent and recognisable identity; for this reason I really dislike the trend of having new logos for each World Series and Super Bowl.  I prefer the NBA's approach, with its immediately identifiable "The Finals" logo that has become engrained in the public consciousness.

The Series used to do this, having had logos that spanned the periods 1980-1986, 1987-1991, and 1992-1999 (and every World Series logo through 2003 was a play on the 1992-1999 logo).  For my money, they should have kept the 1987-1991 for good.

This is another highly dignified look, even though it is very different to the 2014 and 2016 logos.  This logo's use of traditional baseball script and simple iconography renders it timeless.

At any rate, Major League Baseball should pick a World Series logo and stick with it for at least five or six years, in order to let that logo define a generation.

I've always been partial to the whole "Fall Classic" theme:

Maybe it's just me, but I like the whole autumnal aesthetic. It fit with the "pastoral" nature of the game, while looking classy and unique. The 2012 set was a nice compromise between the autumnal and the "standard" looks. Of the previous generation of logos, I liked both 2005 and 2007 because of their autumnal colors.

The 2014 and 2016 logos are too simple and bland, while the pre-2000 logos are a little too "cookie-cutter" for my tastes. A little uniqueness and occasional diversions for navy/red and royal/red are a good thing.

I like the logo, but don't love it. It for sure beats 2014 and 2016, that were incredibly bland, but this logo feels incomplete. Any logo that doesn't have a dark background doesn't feel complete. If you put a navg baseball diamond or a globe with that shade of navy in the background along with the trophy, it would look beautiful.

Its an upgrade though compared to last year, a downgrade compared to ones some of the better post 08 ones.

I disagree, because up until the last four or so years, they did have a common look.  In 2004, during the globe era we saw the inclusion of two pennants.  It appeared again in 2007, and while the globe disappeared, two elements in different colors (except for one year I'm not a fan of) to represent the two league champions was a constant feature for six years until the controversial 2014 logo got rid of it.

2015 was beautiful and timeless, though.  Wouldn't mind if the Commissioner's Trophy becomes the next theme.  In my opinion, the trophy featured in the best and worst of the last ten years.  In my opinion, this is the top ten...

10. 2017 World Series Logo

Of course, that being said, I'll probably get used to it and feel better about it later.  I was originally very down on 2014, but seeing it in patch form.  To help explain my rankings a bit more, I'm not a big fan at all of the logos that are just text with no background.  Once I saw the patch for 2014, which gave it a white background, it looked so much better to me, and I see that every time I look at it now.  It's sleek.

While I like 2008's design, I don't like the colors.  While the other logos either have color schemes based on the colors of the leagues/sport, fall colors, or championship gold, but the inclusion of bright green here really doesn't jive with the whole Fall Classic thing.  2011's darker, paler green fits better, but it's overly detailed, has no background, and the leaves are the same color, being the ones to buck the two-league look.

2010 was just bizarre.  That stitching, while a good idea, just looks awkward without the context of the ball to explain the perspective.
