Considering that, the World Series patch having 'WS' on it rather than the full 'World Series' is oddly fitting. Would have been more fitting had the Yanks been in it. The_Admiral
An acronym is when the initials form a new word, such as NASA or C-SPAN, otherwise it's just an initialism or abbreviation. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
DC in Da House w/o a Doubt
Terrible World Series patch. now I'm *glad* the Nats didn't make it that far. jk
daveindc
I never see World Series abbreviated like that unless whoever typed it was forced to, like on a tweet. That has to be the only way it entered their mind to even do that.
DC in Da House w/o a Doubt
And why would they abbreviate the bigger of the two patches??? The tiny patch on the hat has "World Series". Why not make that one the WS patch if you have to use it

BC985
My chief patch complaint is that it is white. Doesn’t look good on the road grays.

What a disappointment. The proposed one the boss originally posted was MUCH better. I wonder if the Cubs said the same thing when they got that wonky "Giles" Trophy. 7 hours ago, jerseyjunk said: This was one of the best ever those fall colors! That classic fall color of green. AstroCree
This is worse than the 2005 patch that also used WS because that had more personality than the 2017 one.
Quillz
Yeah, the patches aren't great, but w/e. It is what it is. Frankly, I've never been a giant fan of most of the patches, anyway. Most tend to be too crowded, making it hard to see much of anything on the patches unless it's right in your face.

They were 0-3 in New York with the all navy caps. I wish they would now that they've lost four in a road with the all-navy caps on the road and just 1-4 in the postseason. I don't like the absence of the orange-bill cap, and I hope it's not being completely phased out.

SilverBullet1929
It's weird though because I don't mind them promoting #WorldSeries for use on social media, that's great and I get the purpose of that... but I'm still irked when hashtags become a thing beyond social media itself. I'm sure it won't be long before patches and other merchandise prominently feature hashtags.

In a vacuum, the orange bill cap is fine, but after their historically wearing only solid caps, it looks out of place to me. I just can't get used to it. Their best cap of all time has already been phased out, that being the solid orange. I've thought since the return of the current set that they should wear orange caps and lettering on the home whites and navy caps and lettering on the road grays. I don't know about orange caps (that sort of boldness demands full dedication) but I'd like to see the Astros start wearing orange undershirts and socks at home, like how the Indians wear red ones:
FiddySicks
I've warmed up to this year's World Series patches. The WS on the jerseys is still pretty dumb, but that hat patch looks AWESOME. It's clean, sharp, it really pops, and the diamond shape works very well and is actually somewhat unique for a World Series patch. It's such a simple concept and I'm really surprised it's not been done before. Also, it just works really well with both teams color schemes. I love that the logo just depicts the top of the trophy coming out from behind the word mark, too. It's understated but still shows the goal. It's not too flashy (2015) but it isn't completely boring, either (2014). I've picked up a World Series on-field 59Fifty every year since 2001 and I think this current year is probably my favorite out of all of them. HighCheese
I went to the Dodger Stadium gift ship today. They had actual sewn patches on hoodies and a few jerseys(I guess they could have been glued, but the classic patch nonetheless) its too bad. Much prefer those to the current chromaflex or whatever its called

Exactly, now why the hell does it only say WS on the jerseys. You would think it was actually a mistake, and they switched the patches
