For this event, you will have to crossover any active Major League Soccer team to hockey. Any team under the “Major Soccer League Team Logos” is available, including teams that have not yet started playing (Atlanta United FC, LAFC, and Minnesota United FC). You have to create two uniform sets: one white and one colored.

  • Use the colors that are already part of the current color scheme; do NOT add more colors (other than white). A different shade of an existing color will count as a new color, so be careful.
  • Each uniform set should include a jersey, socks, pants, and helmet.
  • Include the primary logo of the MLS team on your submission. It should not take more than 150px by 150px, as it is only for reference.
  • Use a template showing the set as if it was laying flat on a surface. Do NOT submit your entry on a 3D template, as it will be disqualified. If you are unsure whether you can use a particular template, please send me a PM with an image of the template.

DEADLINE: October 28th, 11:59AM Eastern Time

Failure to follow the guidelines could result in your entry being inadvertently (or intentionally) excluded from judging.

Entries must be emailed to logolympiad (@) gmail (dot) com prior to the set deadline. Subject line should be the event number (Ex: Event 1). Once you submit your entry, it is considered final.

Entries must be submitted as .jpg, .gif or .png formats. The file name format of the submission is: event#_yourusername.extension (Ex: event1_pollux.png). The file must be attached to your email.

All final entries must be 800x600 pixels with at least 70 pixels of white space at the bottom of the image. This means that your presentation has to fit in a 800x530 pixels window (800 pixels wide by 530 pixels high). I will NOT re-size entries that are not properly done, so make sure it's right.

The background of the entries should be solid white, unless otherwise specified. You must not use gradients, shadows, patterns, lines, etc. on your background.

Do not add any text or images to your submission, unless otherwise specified. Do not add the team name, location, the entry number, the event type, etc.

Do not include your name or any other personal identifiers on your submission. Also, do not watermark your work. I will add a watermark to each entry before they get posted for judging. I will also provide each entry with a number. You are expected to keep the identity of your entry anonymous until the end of the event. If you think you know the identity of another designer, keep it to yourself. Anyone who exposes the identity of themselves or anyone else will be DQ'd.

You should receive an automatic reply once you submit your entry. If you don’t receive one, please PM me directly. If I see an issue with the format of your submission, I will contact you giving you a chance to resubmit. I will NOT, however, comment on the content of the submission.

Would red for Orlando City count as a new color, considering that they've used it in the past but aren't now?

Yes, red would count as a new color. Use the colors from the current color scheme, nothing else.

Can we use two templates to show off the design?

I'm not sure I understand your question... Usually, a template will consist of a front/back view of the jersey, socks, pants, and a helmet. So you'll need to have this template twice on your submission (once for white, once for colored).

If you want to use two different templates to show the design (for both white and colored), you could do so, but it would definitely clutter your submission, as everything has to fit into a single 800x600 image.

Does this answer your question? If not, could you show an example of what you mean by using two templates?

For reference, here's the album from last year's crossover event.

Do we have to use the MLS font for NOB/numbers, or is it freearrow-10x10.png choice

You can use any font you want. No limitation.

Should the team logos be used as is, or can they be modified for hockey?

You can modify the primary slightly, for example changing the ball for a hockey puck. Don't create a completely new primary, though. The focus should be on the uniforms.

Are we allowed to use part of the team's logo as the main crest?

Yes, you can use part of the logo as the main crest for your hockey jerseys.

I have a question, where can you find the full album for all events last year?

There isn't a single album for all submissions, but you can find each album per event in the main thread of each year: Logolympiad 2015 for example. You can look up the other threads using the search feature :)

Make sure that you add the crest of the MLS team as a separate element on your submission, even if you're using it as the crest on the jerseys.

Can a team's previous logos be used as long as they use current colors?

Stick with the current logos and colors. No previous logos.

Are we allowed to use the MLS logo on our submission?

Yes, you can, but it should not be the main focus of the jersey. It could be similar to the NHL patches on the teams jerseys.
