This is all very new for the NBA.  It's not how alternate jerseys used to work.  It's not something fans have experienced before so it seems super weird.  It'll take some getting used to, but I think it's here to stay.  There are only so many permutations of the traditional uniforms you can make and sell before you dip into "fashion uniforms".  Now "fashion uniforms" are being worn on court.  Personally, I love it. 

 

I just hope these don't stick around for more than a season or two or they risk becoming part of the franchise's brand, and that would be bad.  

 

I fully understand these points. 

 

I was pointing out that Utah's gotta be right up there with being one extreme to another in a single uniform set, color wise. 

 

I was just thinking that the Clippers may use this opportunity to get a 'feel' for the orange/blue scheme, and possibly roll out a change in the future.

Agreed with all except Utah, and maybe LAC. I like the Clippers’, especially the colors and shorts design, but I think the wordmark and lack of cohesiveness between the jersey and shorts take it down a notch. And I’d also probably add Sacramento and Philadelphia to my list of favorites, although both of theirs have room for improvement as well.

The Bulls’ City uniforms are getting serious love and it wouldn't stun me if they incorporate a smidge of light blue into their regular look in the near future. 

 

This would be awful, so yeah, probably.

 

I'd be more into this "city" design if there was a proportional light blue stripe running down either side of the stars. Regardless, the Bulls are very late to the party when it comes to the use of flag imagery here, and they'd have been better off trying something different.

 

Miami needs a black version of their city uniform immediately. God, that is lovely.

I agree with this. For uniforms designed to represent each individual city, it makes perfect sense. Yes I definitely got the name wrong, but those statues are the first thing that came to mind when I saw the jerseys leaked a few weeks ago. The tire thread Goodyear connection is just a coincidence. I'm sure they would have used the same design regardless of the sponsor...

The Heat uni is good but can't help feeling it's a little too on the nose. I guess that's one plus of having these for a one-season rotation only, because these will get old after about four games' worth.

I agree. The jersey looks nice in and of itself, but it also looks like the kind of thing you'd find in a tourist stand selling Bulls-inspired knockoffs. It's pleasant, but way on the nose.

Boston’s turned out to be really nice. Hope they try for a gold jersey next year if they go away from grey.

I completely agree. With these jerseys changing each year, it wouldn’t surprise me if we saw each a black and aqua version down the road. These are money!

I think some people here are not fully grasping the concept of these "City Edition" uniforms, and are taking it a bit too seriously. Most Bulls fans are loving them from what I've seen. These are colors they take pride in:

That's exactly my point. It's being done better in a lot of places. (Some of those pictures are not among those places.) And the Bulls should try taking pride in red and black before anything, given that the past 18 years have basically been a nonstop steaming pile.

First of all, thank you for explaining to me what the flag of Chicago is. Here I thought I was born in and have spent the majority of my life in the northeast corner of Illinois. I cuold'nt ahve done it wihtout yuo.

 

There was a time when Bulls gear in and of itself was Chicago imagery. Maybe the Bulls should aspire to that standard again instead of outfitting themselves in the front of a Walgreens on Michigan Avenue.

Most of us know what the Chicago flag is, and my post wasn't meant to explain it. It was to provide a visual as to why they went with what they did, because people still seem not to understand the concept of "City Edition". It has nothing to do with the team's brand.

Saying they shouldn't wear anything other than red and black is completely missing the point of these uniforms that the whole league is wearing. It ain't that serious.
