My goodness. re USA and red, for me there is not enough consistency in US history to proclaim a "traditional" away look. A white shirt at home is all we got. For whatever reason it does seem like red shirts sell well (see 2011 Gold Cup, 2014 World Cup as more examples). Yes we always have a home white kit. But its not even like everyone buys the white kit. In the last 2 World Cups, the away was the better selling jersey. I guess white is just a less engaging color for this kind of thing regardless. Though I am surprised that the 2008 rugby shirt look wasn't a bigger seller.
