VikingsNotMinnesota Posted June 14, 2017 Share Posted June 14, 2017 Honestly, yeah they're totally unnecessary and pointless, and yeah that concept has been done to death, but as standalone uniforms, those whites are really nice. The white helmet really makes that green pop, and that finish is really nice. IMO, if MSU didn't have such a huge tradition with green helmets, I wouldn't mind if they worse those white helmets full time, I would love a white/green/white MSU look. Biased, sure, but my favorite uniforms aside from Nebraska are teams like Penn State, Texas, Oklahoma, the Colts or Jets, etc. Clean and sharp looking every day of the week. 5th in NAT. TITLES | 2nd in CONF. One of the rare cases in which the new helmet actually looks like it belongs instead of the usual white helmet for white helmet's sake. As someone who worked on this field for 4 years, I have to say that this is a great improvement! I'd rather have it say Montana State and drop Bobcats from the end zone. Further, the Cats script always made the field look to busy. Here is some trivia for you. When we changed our logo (and outfitter to UA) in 2013, along with the new Big Sky logo, the AD said that the logos were going to be on the field. My understanding was that they would have all new turf for the entire field. Turns out what they did was cut out the old logos from the field and lay down new turn in only those spots. Funny thing was that there was about a half an inch difference in the height of the new turf to the old. Looking from the field or the stands it looked really cheap and ugly. And for the cherry on top, we somehow screwed up the Big Sky logo. You notice that the logo has and angled bottom, just like the top. Somehow when it was installed the first time, the bottom of the logo was completely straight. So a basically the bottom of the logo was parallel with the sidelines. It was set for about 2 days until someone noticed and I'm told it cost "several" thousand dollars to correct.
