Another solid uniform. I really enjoy the argyle pattern on the helmet and collar. I also enjoy the return to Navy Blue even though I thought the black on Carolina blue looked good. Overall this is a solid set that is one of the best new uniforms in college football. 

 

Grade: A (there is nothing I don't like about the uniform set it is great, I even enjoy the argyle pattern on the helmet)

Excellent job FIU. I'm impressed by this set, the metallic gold numbers pop out on both uniforms. The 3 helmets are all pretty good (maybe a blue and gold stripe pattern on the white helmet would've been nice) there seems to be a lot of possibilities for mixing and matching which I also like (I'd like to see the gold helmet paired with the Navy Jersey and Navy Pants) Overall very solid set for the panthers.

Got to say, I think adding a matte navy helmet to this set would make it look better.

That captures their brand. I honestly forgot they existed. I don't think I've ever even seen the score of a game of theirs running at the bottom of the screen. They could stop existing and a lot of people would be none the wiser

When I was looking up to see what their old uniforms looked like, it turns out they've had this same look for the past 2 years. 

 

The gold numbers arent aren't as much of a problem as you'd think they'd be.

My issue isn't even really the design itself. I mean yeah I think it's generic and forgettable as all hell, but that's mostly because any generic design looks trashy on Adidas' templates. Honestly, I think the base design is ok. They don't really need anything other than the blue helmet, but as a stormtrooper look, a road helmet, or maybe just for occasional use, I'm ok with that in the while and blue helmet being in their rotation I guess. But what the hell are those are other two helmets? The white helmet with the gold facemask is one of the most pointless things I've seen a college team do with their uniforms. It's just a downgrade in every way to the blue facemask one, and serves no other purpose other than to muddy the brand. And what in high hell is that gold chrome helmet? Chrome helmets were barely cool 3 years ago, now they are nothing but trashy. That's the kind of helmet an escort would wear during an Ole Miss recruiting pitch.

 

The whole thing looks outdated and trashy, and I have no idea how someone looks at that and goes "wow they did a good job, B+", which was my point. I'm shocked at how little hate this is getting.

The chrome gold is horrible. Adidas uses that same base design for most of there schools. In my opinion they aren't that bad of uniforms, but look outdated. And what is with that pattern of the chest/shoulder

That's just a pattern of the template itself, which is also an outdated template i believe.

Like is that not just a tad off for anyone else? I get that major universities make a big deal of their branding and apparel deals, but on the uniforms themselves generally the actual brand logo is not front and center. I mean there is arguable no more important spot in a uniform than the centerpiece of the helmet, and those helmets have a jumpman logo. I know saying that college football is a giant corporate entity isn't exactly a unique position, but I can't recall ever seeing quite this level of pure corporatism in amateur athletics, where the primary focal point of a practice uniform is a giant apparel brand. This is bothering me maybe more than it should.
