Copying the Panthers chest stripe? Teams have got to stop this 1993 Expansion Dress Up thing.

Not sure whether it's been posted before, but here are the Canucks. No changes, AFAIK.

Here are the L.A. Kings. Again, no changes....

As far as these two teams looks' are concerned, I'm okay with them standing pat here.

I agree, the Canucks have changed looks and identities so many times that it's kind of refreshing to see them stick to a look. Just add green to the logo, and maybe simplify/modernize it a little, and you have a brand the Canucks can stick with.

Maybe I'm looking into this a bit too much... I found this on the Golden Knights's Instagram feed.

During the announcement that The D (bummer, it's not Excalibur Hotel and Casino) will be their official Hotel for the VGK.

On the jacket they are putting on, it's possible the name and numbers have been leaked. I noticed during the quick footage, there's a bit of shade of gold outline on the numbers, the name is in white. It is hard to tell in these stills, but it's there when you watch the clip.

In addition to the Original Six, it would be very easy for the Penguins to execute an old school throwback. There are several cool designs from pro hockey teams in Pittsburgh dating back to the turn of the 20th century. I think we'll start to see some of those in future outdoor games the Pens will be participating in.

Right everyone who doesn't like the Orca is a screaming idiot, and the Canucks should just stick with the Orca forever because coincidentally its the one you like.

It is a coincidence, yes. I don't love it - it could be better - but I see less problems coming from just sticking with the current identity as opposed to a whole new redo consisting of a bunch of incongruous opinions and ideas of what it SHOULD be. It's never conclusive and I'm never impressed with the proposals to warrant me thinking it's worth ditching the current set. Stick with it. That's how you build an identity.

I'm Danny fkn Heatley, I play for myself. That's what fkn all stars do.

Hey don't hate on The D...I like that hotel. ?

It's a fine establishment but it's sorta odd that the official hotel is Downtown when the arena is on the south end of the Strip within a stones throw of so many hotels.

Isn't the current Canucks set the result of a bunch of incongruous opinions and ideas? You've got the 70s vibe with the blue and green colors and a modified Stick in Rink logo from the birth of the franchise. Then you have the Orca which is from the 90s, but uses a darker blue (or black?) that isn't found on the rest of the set. To top it off you've got the weird college-style wordmark over the main logo and a very modern number font.

Dude, today's Canucks uniforms are exactly what you're protesting about a hypothetical redesign.

i feel like the Canucks need to establish what the identity of a "Canuck" is.  Forgive me if I'm being an uninformed American, but you have Johnny Canuck, who has had as much of an identity crisis as the team, morphing from a political cartoon like Uncle Sam, then a comic book hero/pilot like Captain America, and a flat out lumberjack.

The Johnny Canuck logos they have now are a little cartoonish, but i feel like they could come up with a mark that carries a sense of pride and dignity that has a stronger identity.  The stick in rink is vintage, but not representative.  The orca/C is a great logo, reflects the native heritage of the area, but also not reflective of the name.

I don't know.  I feel like they could just take this in a direction they haven't been in before and do something really great.

Skatin' Johnny Canuck is a great logo and he should be the jersey crest.

"He's too detailed!" The Penguins just won their fifth cup with an overly detailed cartoon of a skating penguin. Skatin' Johnny Canuck is a better logo than that.

Ten second video has some quick shots of the materials used for the new jerseys. If any non lazy people feel like isolating those shots into still frames that'd be nice of you.

i feel like that's just a practice jersey.  the NHL shield looks too weird and what appears to be the arm numbers looks like it's a big patch with the numbers on them like some practice jerseys have.  And then you have the numbers on the back with giant mesh holes in them.

I'm actually going to agree with you here. But I honestly just see the probability of the same thing happening again way more likely than not. I guess I'm just used to the current jerseys and they aren't terrible in my eyes. Whenever I read "bring back the skate!" or "johnny Canuck logo" I just can't deal with the idea that this could be the 'solution'..

Thank you McCarthy!! The team is called the Vancouver Canucks. Not the Orca Bay Canucks. Not the Vancouver Orcas. The orca logo only caters to select demographics as it was initially inspired by the former Seattle-based Orca Bay Sports & Entertainment ownership. That's dividing a fan base. A Johnny Canuck-Stick In Rink brand would unite the generation of Canucks fans from the Western League and early NHL years with today's and tomorrow's generation of Canucks fans. It boldly represents Vancouver Canucks history and hockey history in Vancouver.
