Just add green to the logo, and maybe simplify/modernize it a little, and you have a brand the Canucks can stick with. I couldn't agree with this more. I hate the way they use green on the sleeves and keep it off the torso (both logo and numbers/names). Adding green to the logo would be a huge improvement. As for what they should be using? I don't know. The current logo (with green) is serviceable, but I just don't think the Canucks have ever really nailed it. I don't like Johnny or Decapitated Johnny. I kinda go with the current logo by default (and for the reason you point out; at some point it would be nice for them to pick an identity). The_Admiral
1 hour ago, McCarthy said: Skatin' Johnny Canuck is a great logo and he should be the jersey crest. "He's too detailed!" The Penguins just won their fifth cup with an overly detailed cartoon of a skating penguin. Skatin' Johnny Canuck is a better logo than that. The Johnny Canuck that's been in the package since '07 is considerably more detailed than the skating penguin, which is only three colors and doesn't really have that much going on. IIRC, Johnny has a checkered shirt and some shading going on. But that notwithstanding, yeah, Johnny Canuck should be what the Canucks are about, whether it's the skating version or the head in a V (my personal preference), but not a laser skate, not an orca, and never a freaking hockey rink. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

The plaid shirt was on the old pre-NHL version. Here he's wearing a plain green button up. Probably a Carhartt if I know my outdoorsy types. the only thing I don't like is the goofy tape on the stick. Nobody tapes their stick like that. And if they did flip it around and you've got a hidden V. I think there is room for some whimsy in pro sports logos, especially when your name is a slang term like Canucks. HoopsCoach55
A 5 color logo isn't too bad to render on a jersey, and it is better than the Orca, even though its the main look I've always known the Canucks to wear.

Still MIGHTY
Also, instead of talking in circles about the Canucks' Orca v. Johnny Canuck for the umpteenth time. Let's talk about an actual jersey! USA Hockey has unveiled the jersey the the Junior team will wear in their outdoor game against Canada in Buffalo at the World Juniors round robin game on Dec. 29. They're playing in the Buffalo Bills stadium... so they extended the sleeves on a Buffalo Bills football jersey to make a Buffalo Bills hockey jersey... for USA Hockey. Not good. | ANA | LAA | LAR | LAL | ASU | CSULB | USMNT | USWNT | LAFC | OCSC | MAN UTD |

Corvus
From the jersey image teaser for the Canucks, I don't think it is possible to tell if the script was there or not, though I'm sure it will be as there are not predicted to be any changes for Vancouver. Here's the old WHL (not the junior league, the old western pro league) with Johnny Canuck on the front. And jersey front numbers . Personally, I don't care for Johnny like this. He needs a background shape or shield to bound the logo, like the triangle behind the skating penguin. Personally, I say stick with the Orca as the primary mark. The team has had it's best ever seasons when wearing that logo, and it's a west coast animal. Yeah, maybe it was a bit corporate when they did the change from the skate on a plate, but that ownership group has been gone for 13 years so anyone still hung up on that really needs to let it go. The orca has been the team logo for 20 years now, I'd be happy if the club just kept it forever now.
Ti-Nick
^ This. Who cares if the orca is a little bit corporate? The Mighty Ducks mask was clearly corporate and people still love it. Many want it back even if it clearly evokes Disney. And so what if the orca is not literally a "canuck"? Is the Bruins logo a bear? Is the Canadiens logo a canadian man? Is Columbus' logo a Blue Jacket? Even the Predators logo is not a "predator" per se. It’s a symbol with cultural ties with the city or region. Just like the orca is a C with cultural ties to the Pacific Northwest (orcas, ice, Haida art). It’s also much simpler than Johnny Canuck. That logo is nice, but way too cartoony to be a primary crest. It was fine for the Penguins to have a cartoony logo in 1967, but in 2017 it’s too minor-leaguish. Tweak the orca and get rid of the script above, and it’s a great identity I think.

bowld
Think I read somewhere that teams can choose to have their numbers done in the old, twill style or this new perforated style.
