So this is like a Globetrotters style game that travels to markets that don't have professional teams? Am I understanding that correctly?

Partly, sure. Also a trial balloon for a player-owned league (if you want to go there). Also a way for just-retired players to see maybe if they still got it.

Even if it only lasts this summer, a good idea is a good idea.

It's all about the price point for tickets.

Cats are gonna get $100K each for the season.

And they don't have TV/digital yet and just because you're on TV doesn't mean that TV is paying you, especially in the summer.

Bump as here are the cities and dates:

June 25: Barclays Center, Brooklyn
July 2: Spectrum Center, Charlotte
July 9: BOK Center, Tulsa, OK
July 16: Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia
July 23: Bridgestone Arena, Nashville

July 30: American Airlines Center, Dallas
August 6: Rupp Arena, Lexington, KY
August 13: Staples Center, Los Angeles
August 20: Key Arena, Seattle, (Playoffs)
August 26: T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada (Championship Finals)

I think tickets are kinda ridiculously priced, ranging from $27-750 on Ticketmaster, but it includes a mini-concert.

Plus, they had a draft over the weekend.

I love that Kwame Brown was fifth overall.

Last I checked, only Brooklyn tickets were on sale. KeyArena is going to sell out.

Scalabrine and Kenyon Martin are playing in the league -- that is some Nets-o-riffic goodness right there!  It's really too bad they aren't on the same team.

But Scalabrine's team will be coached by another Net, Rick Barry; and a different team is coached by the greatest Net of all, Dr. J!

Sprewell is fat. Who is he trying to kid?

Bummed Earl Boykins didn't make it. You'd think smaller size would be more valuable in a 3 on 3 league.

Kendall Gill lost a shooting contest to Leigh Ellis of "The Starters", so all those dudes had to see that on NBATV and gave Kendall the thumbs down.

I actually like this, 3-on-3 basketball just seems like basketball's version of futsal, and I love futsal.

This league's expectations seem far lower than the XFL. They're not trying to take on the NBA. Just carve out their own niche.

Plus, basketball is so much cheaper than football. The overall expense is incredibly smaller. Between equipment/venues needed, to the number of players per team and their pay.

The one thing this league is doing is something I thought the XFL should have done. Divorce teams from cities, and just have 8 teams and have them play games randomly all over as doubleheaders. Fans could adopt any team they wanted without some regional or local bias.

I said it months ago, but some see the 3 on 3 league as a thought balloon for whether players could own and run their own league.

I bet a player-owned league would eventually turn into what we have now -- player/owners would retire, find partners, want a bigger cut, etc. -- but the idea of it is interesting.

I haven't purchased tickets for the Seattle playoff yet because they're stupidly expensive, but I'll likely keep an eye on SeatGeek as it gets closer.
